About this position: Cloud Engineer Location - Randolph AFB, TX

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide guidance across data, compute, storage, network, virtualization, containerization, and security, and help transform the organization to take advantage of DevSecOps, CI/CD, and Agile methodologies.
  • Develop architecture for cloud environments.
  • Promote DevOps engineering principles throughout the portfolio.
  • Assess cloud architectures for scalability, security, resilience, and mission alignment.
  • Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative technical solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems, driving data-driven decisions.
  • Evaluate analytics from the cloud environment to make recommendations for improvements and optimization.
  • Provide technical advisory to leadership, engineers, and cybersecurity SMEs.
  • Ensure cloud solutions are secure, interoperable, and compliant with engineering, cybersecurity, and program requirements.

Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications
  • Education Requirements: A Bachelor's degree or seven years of equivalent experience.
  • Level of Experience Requirements: 15-20 years of technical infrastructure and/or systems engineering experience.
  • Seven years of experience in all aspects of cloud computing (compute, storage, platforms, data, and security).
  • Proven track record in implementing large-scale cloud environments.
  • Hands-on experience in cloud computing-based services architecture, technical design, and implementations, including IaaS and PaaS.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must have or be able to attain a SECRET security clearance.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics
  • Deep knowledge of AWS, Azure, Oracle, or Google Cloud, with experience in large-scale deployments.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud cost optimization techniques.
  • Experience in one or more automation languages (CLI, Python, Ruby, PowerShell).
  • Strong knowledge of Direct Connect, Private Link, VPN, and other public cloud connectivity solutions.
  • Thorough understanding of infrastructure automation, CI/CD, networking, storage, and cloud-based delivery models.
  • Strong knowledge of networking and web standards such as DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, HTTP, web security, and firewalls.
  • Highly experienced in autoscaling, load balancing, and disaster recovery (DR) cloud computing models.
  • Experience with SSO/Federation.
  • Working knowledge of configuration management tools (Chef, Puppet, and Ansible).
  • Thorough understanding of cloud-native, vendor-agnostic, and cloud-ready application development.
  • Thorough understanding of cloud governance.
  • Strong working knowledge of cloud monitoring tools, application performance monitoring tools, and operational dashboarding.

Preferred
  • Agile development experience.
  • Active SECRET security clearance

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • This position will not have supervisory responsibilities.
