Position Description
Full-time, term (non-tenure-line) faculty position in Advanced Manufacturing and Machining available for the Fall 2026- Spring 2027 academic year on the Cattaraugus County Campus (Olean). Teaching responsibilities on the Jamestown campus may be required. Will follow a 9-month contract, subject to renewal annually.
Full-time instructional faculty at JCC are responsible for teaching, driving course and program development, working directly with students in the teaching and evaluation of learning, engaging in the work of the college, and continuing to develop as professional educators. The current teaching load for full-time faculty is 30 or 32 credit hours per 9-month contract year, and positions may include the potential for additional teaching opportunities in the summer.
Essential Functions
Responsibilities include teaching foundational and advanced courses in areas such as PLCs, industrial automation and robotics, electrical control systems, machining and CNC equipment, or CAD software (AutoCAD / SolidWorks), supporting students in developing hands-on technical skills and applied problem-solving abilities. Instruction may also include non-credit Workforce Development training in these same disciplines. The successful candidate will collaborate with faculty across Engineering & Technology programs to develop curriculum aligned with industry needs, support and maintain dynamic and safe lab environments, assist with recruitment efforts for Manufacturing Technology Institute (MTI) programs, and actively engage in departmental and college-wide initiatives.
Qualifications
Required:
  • Associate's degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Automation, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience in an advanced manufacturing or industrial technology discipline.
  • Experience with current industrial technologies such as PLCs, automation systems, robotics, electrical controls, machining and CNC equipment, CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks), or related systems.
Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Automation, or a related field
  • Teaching experience in higher education, particularly at the community college level
  • Professional or industry experience in electrical systems, automation, mechatronics, manufacturing, or a closely related field
  • Evidence of leadership, collaboration, or initiative (e.g., curriculum development, lab development, industry partnerships, mentoring, project leadership, or committee work)
