Job Description
Verisk is seeking an engineer to help adhere to best practices in the cloud. In this role, you'll learn and apply knowledge of Cloud-specific technologies and services and be part of the team leading the design and implementation of Verisk's Cloud Strategy.
Responsibilities
The day-to-day responsibilities of this role include:
  • Deploying applications in an automated fashion by creating and managing CI/CD pipelines
  • Developing and maintaining infrastructure as code
  • Designing highly available and cost-effective architectures
  • Monitoring, alerting, and supporting production environments to keep systems stable and running
  • Providing off-hour support when needed to troubleshoot problems with mission-critical applications and take actions resulting from root cause analysis
  • Engaging with multiple business units to prototype new ideas and new technologies and help create solutions to drive the next wave of innovation.
  • Recommending solutions that align with the business needs and requirements
  • Providing configuration recommendations and assistance
  • Assisting in the development of detailed project specifications and implementation plans
  • Contributing work to central cloud architecture team to benefit Verisk as a whole

Qualifications
  • Experience with building large-scale enterprise architecture solutions, including security concerns, high availability methods, multiple platforms, hardware considerations, network design, monitoring solutions, virtualization, performance, capacity planning, and information management practices
  • Experience with AWS and cloud architecture
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, New Relic, etc.
  • Familiarity with Splunk
  • Experience with containers and tools such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Knowledge of development methodologies and experience with Python development
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools and methodologies, CloudFormation, CDK or Terraform
  • Experience with CI/CD and configuration management tools and technologies, including Azure DevOps, TeamCity, Jenkins etc.
  • Creative and innovative approach to problem-solving and passion for continuous improvement
  • Experience with agile processes (Kanban / Scrum), including familiarity with JIRA
  • BA or BS degree
  • Amazon Certified SysOps Administrator or Solutions Architect, Associate or higher is a plus
