Associate Director of Business Marketing - M&A, PE, Capital Markets

Cooley is seeking an Associate Director of Business Marketing - M&A, PE, Capital Markets to join the Marketing and Client Developmentteam.


Position summary:This role is part of the Business Unit Marketing Team, which acts as the strategic consultant to, and primary bridgebetween,practice group leadership and the broader Marketing & Client Development organization. This team translates commercialobjectivesand competitive insight into marketing and client development plans. They work across Marketing & Client Development to activate these plans, offering theappropriate levelof strategic and tactical support tailored to the needs of each business unit.Specificduties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Position responsibilities:

  • Strategic Plan Translation:Lead the translation of practice-specific marketing plans into detailed briefs for the Campaign Strategy team, ensuring customer journeys are engineered to deliver BU outcomes.
  • Audience & Persona Consultation:Act as the primary consultant for the Insights team on buyer profiles and influencers, providing the practice-specific logic required for build-out of segments.
  • Practice Development Roadmap:Direct the strategy for practice-building initiatives, ensuring "Always Ready" materials and sales touchpoints reflect current market trends and buyer behavior.
  • Cross-Functional Liaison:Partner with leaders across MCD to ensure BU priorities are reflected in enterprise roadmaps and channel strategies.
  • Personalization Logic Strategy:Define the triggers and content requirements for practice-level personalization, ensuring the "right message" is delivered to thepractice'starget buyers.
  • Budget & Sponsorship Stewardship:Oversee the BU-specific marketing budget, providing strategic recommendations on the ROI of sponsorships and practice-levelspend.
  • High-Stakes Narrative Leadership:Lead the strategy and narrative development for the BU's most complex and high-stakes pitches and proposals in collaboration with the Client Development and Pursuits & Proposal's team.
  • Optimization Consultation:Collaborate with Insights & Optimization to interpret dashboard data and proactively recommend strategic shifts in the marketing plan.
  • People Leader:
  • Serve as direct supervisor and mentor to direct reports
  • Provide day-to-day supervision of direct reports, ensure compliance with assigned workhoursandmonitor forcompliance with all firm and department policies. Manage staffing coverage,reviewand process time logs/time off requests
  • Support business professional development and continued educational opportunities
  • In collaboration with immediate supervisor and central HR,participatein hiring, performance appraisals, counseling,terminationand other employee lifecycle events
  • All other duties as assigned orrequired

Skills and experience:

Required:

  • After orientation at Cooley LLP, exhibitproficiencyintheMicrosoftOffice suite,iManageand other firmapplications
  • Ability to work extended and/or weekend hours, asrequired
  • Ability to travel, asrequired
  • 8+ years of applicable experience in the field(e.g.,marketing or business development),with 4+years management experience(some at the senior level preferred)
  • Prior professional services industry experience and/or B2B marketing experience
  • Demonstrated industry experience in private equity
  • Bachelor's Degree

The expected annual pay range for this position with a full-time schedule is $225,000 - $275,000. Please note that final offer amount will be dependent on geographic location, applicable experience and skillset of the candidate.
