Description
The Department of Chemistry Physics and Atmospheric Sciences (CPAS) at Jackson State University in the College of Science Engineering and Technology invites candidates to apply for full-time tenure track faculty position in experimental organic/medicinal chemistry. This position includes but is not limited to organic synthesis, organic reaction development, natural products, physical organic chemistry, biochemistry and medicinal chemistry. We are particularly interested in candidates who will contribute to our efforts to provide support and opportunities for students to pursue research careers in organic chemistry and related areas.
Examples of Duties
  • Successful candidates are expected to establish and sustain a vibrant research program funded externally, serve as effective teachers and mentors at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and provide service to the department, the university and the profession.
  • Applicants must have a promising research agenda, and a strong commitment to graduate and undergraduate student education and success.
  • The target start date is August 6, 2026.
  • Applications should be submitted to CPAS@jsums.edu.
  • An application should include: (1) a cover letter; (2) a current resume including publication record; (3) a research statement/proposal (up to 10 pages); (4) a teaching, outreach, and diversity statement (up to 2 pages); and (5) names and contact information for three references.
