Job Overview
Sr. Aeromechanical Engineers work to solve the nation's hardest problems through rapidly deployed technology solutions. Are you an aerospace or mechanical engineer stuck in a narrow job? Do you want to rapidly build autonomous systems aligned with your hobbies and interests? This job is a lead aeromechanical engineer that takes napkin sketches of airplanes and robots to final production. We work with small teams to move fast and make fielded systems. Here you will lead a small agile team to make these systems a reality from napkin sketch to 1.0 prototype.
Essential Functions
โ€ข Senior role within the engineering team that helps lead in the design and development of UAS products and subsystems.
โ€ข Opportunity to build and tests prototype systems to validate designs
โ€ข Have decision-making abilities for design challenges and coordination with multidisciplinary engineering groups
โ€ข Performance of all vehicle designs from initial concept to complete production-ready design
โ€ข Conduct presentations (Formal and Informal) on designs.
โ€ข Uses scientific and engineering principles to assess deficiencies in any given design and the impact of potential changes
โ€ข Makes complex decisions to meet stated and derived requirements
โ€ข Complete assigned tasks within the project schedule and budget
โ€ข Provide guidance and mentorship to others in both their discipline and company values
โ€ข Conduct FEA and CFD simulation analysis on aircraft and powerplants Design airframes and other aeromechanical parts

Qualifications and Competencies
โ€ข Demonstrated competence in Mechanical Engineering processes and design/analysis tools, solving Mechanics & Kinematics problems, solving Thermodynamics problems
โ€ข Experienced in successfully designing mil-y electronics products
โ€ข Demonstrated understanding of metallic, plastic, and composite material properties
โ€ข Demonstrated ability to solve basic structural dynamics problems
โ€ข Proficiency in SolidWorks, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is required
โ€ข Demonstrated understanding of industry design and documentation standards (GD&T, ASME, Change Control, etc.)
โ€ข Experienced with designing: machined parts, composite parts, injection molded parts, sheet metal parts, wire assemblies, and mechanical assemblies for low, medium, and high-volume manufacturing processes
โ€ข Experienced with: mechanical, lab, field, flight, and environmental testing
โ€ข Demonstrated understanding of engineering configuration management processes
โ€ข Demonstrated ability to work with high-level program requirements, organize, schedule, and delegate tasks to an engineering team
โ€ข Demonstrated leadership experience
โ€ข Periods of development may require long irregular hours around deadlines, weekends, and some holidays and in-field test environments
