POSITION SPECIFICS
We are searching for an experienced, detail-oriented, and customer service focused Software Engineer to join our AI for Visual Analytics (AIVA) Team at the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State. This position involves the design, development, testing, deployment and maintenance of a variety of software programs in support of our government customers. This position will be on site in State College, PA or Key West, FL
ARL is an authorized DoD SkillBridge partner and welcomes all transitioning military members to apply.
You will:
  • Design, implement, test, debug, modify, document, performance tune and maintain software applications
  • Assist with the integration of new and existing software features into existing workflows
  • Analyze and translate business process requirements into technical solutions
  • Ensure compliance with standards and requirements; monitor threats, alerts, and security vulnerabilities

Required skills/experience areas include:
  • Proficiency with Windows Server, Red Hat Linux, and SELinux systems
  • Java, SQL, JavaScript, HTML and CSS
  • Strong analytical skills to achieve results when diagnosing and resolving technical issues
  • Success in environments where various forms of communication and organizational skills were crucial to be effective
  • Active Secret Security Clearance

Preferred skills/experience areas include:
  • Prior US Government related work
  • A degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
  • Current eligibility for access to classified information at the Top Secret level or higher and may be subject to a government background investigation to upgrade clearance eligibility, if required
