Position Overview:

The Software Engineer - Team Lead coordinates and participates in the development of Android software for fitness console development with global R&D teams. Directly manages a team of 4-6 Software Engineers and works with Product Owners and Global R&D to develop clear requirements/standards, review/assist in key phase gates, and help achieve quality, cost, and delivery of projects. Will focus on management of multiple projects through Johnson's Digital Product Development process to develop console software.


Leading by example, the ideal candidate will leverage sound technical knowledge to improve products and processes while guiding and inspiring team members. Has a strong capability to anticipate and resolve engineering development challenges early and effectively. Blends solid engineering skill and personnel leadership excellence.


Responsibilities:

Assists Engineering Manager in attracting and hiring top engineering talent

Provides work direction to engineers under supervision

Trains staff in product development processes

Works with engineers to meet KPI expectations

Serve as communication lead between global software teams

Drive consistency for task tracking and schedule for global software teams

Provide technical leadership for global software teams

Balance overall company needs for NPD and how Software Development fits into development of new products

Partner with Software teams for two-way support for product development

Translate marketing requirements into actionable technical tasks for the R&D team

Lead individual development projects as needed

Requirements


Education:

Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other Science / Technical Engineering.


Experience:

3 to 5 years of Android development experience.

Experience mentoring or leading team members is a must.

7 to 10 years of object-oriented programming in a language such as C++, C# or Java

6 years of UI based application development

2 years with built-in and integration unit testing

5 years writing or editing technical documentation

5 years or project sustaining or inheritance

2 years project architecting in a team environment


Other Requirements:

Ability and willingness to travel both internationally and domestically, communicate with overseas teams during non-business hours

Ability to work well with numerous diverse groups and individuals

Ability to lead and inspire a team of engineers

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
