Job description

Job Title: Preventative Maintenance Working Leader
Location: Houma, LA
Position Overview: The Preventative Maintenance Working Leader isresponsible for overseeing the preservation and enhancement of vessel's equipment to ensure functionality. Conducts preventative and predictive maintenance on vessel to avoid equipment failure. Responsible for oversight of equipment on government and commercial ships under construction.
Key Responsibilities:
• Establishes and implements a maintenance schedule for each vessel aimed at the prevention of breakdowns and failures.
• Conducts preventative maintenance on vessel according to the planned maintenance schedule.
• Performs maintenance procedures such as, but not limited to, equipment inspections, oil changes, and lubrication.
• Tracks vessel equipment conditions such as deterioration and corrosion using software such as Microsoft Excel.
• Follows pre-established guidelines and procedures, technical manuals, and manufacturer's instructions to schedule, plan, and perform equipment maintenance.
• Provides reports on vessel equipment conditions to management.
Qualifications:
• Associates degree in related field preferred or any equivalent combination of experience and training which results in the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in maintenance and supervision.
• Ability to read, understand, and complete engineering logs.
• Ability to read and interpret ship construction drawings.
• Navy, Coast Guard, or Merchant Mariner experience a plus.
Skills and Abilities:
• General understanding of mechanical propulsion, electrical propulsion, and electrical power generating equipment.
• Basic understanding of diesel engines and gas turbines.
• Ability to make well-informed decisions regarding safety and protection of machinery.
• Knowledge of marine equipment operation.
• Familiar with shipbuilding processes and operational principles.
• Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication, teamwork, collaboration, and relationship management.
• Knowledge of current Occupational Safety and Health Administration lockout/tagout requirements and US Navy Work Authorization Form procedures.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications preferred.
