Job Description

The Lab Technician II supports research, development, and testing activities in a fast-paced chemistry laboratory environment. This role works closely with multiple scientists on projects involving sealants, coatings, urethane systems, and other chemistry-based product formulations. The Lab Technician II prepares laboratory samples, conducts testing and characterization, documents results, and contributes to the development of new and existing products while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Support the setup, execution, and monitoring of laboratory experiments and testing programs.
  • Formulate and prepare lab-scale samples using established procedures and raw materials.
  • Perform chemical, physical, and mechanical testing on formulations and finished products.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory instrumentation such as rheometers, Instron testing equipment, and other characterization tools.
  • Conduct moisture-cure chemistry formulation work, including urethane-based products.
  • Record laboratory activities, observations, and test results in laboratory notebooks and electronic systems.
  • Analyze and organize experimental data and present findings in a clear, digestible format using Microsoft Excel.
  • Support multiple scientists and projects simultaneously while adapting to shifting priorities.
  • Maintain laboratory supplies, inventories, and equipment to ensure smooth operation of the lab.
  • Assist with the development and modification of test methods and laboratory procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all laboratory safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate sample identification, labeling, and documentation practices.
  • Communicate effectively with scientists and other stakeholders regarding experimental plans, results, and next steps.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of laboratory processes, documentation, and data management practices.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or higher in Chemistry, Chemical Technology, Materials Science, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Hands-on laboratory experience in a chemistry-focused environment gained through industry roles, internships, research, or academic laboratories.

This is a Contract position based out of Saint Paul, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
