PURPOSE
Responsible for managing the people, work, and processes for all Multifamily Estimating nationally. Leverages estimating resources by planning work and capacity nationally and ensures output from Design teams meets or exceeds company standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Travels nationally as necessary to interface with multiple design departments.
  • Manages the estimators and estimating leads. Leads the design function, ensuring processes and work results meet/exceed company standards.
  • Conducts performance management reviews for estimators and leads. Solicits additional feedback from regional management, and sales to improve performance and processes.
  • Distributes and coordinates work between multiple estimating pods. Leverages estimating resources by sharing work and capacity nationally as needed.
  • Verifies that the estimating departments nationally work within the established company standards for multifamily truss estimating.
  • Communicates with the company Director of Truss Design and the Region Manufacturing Director on a regular basis regarding the status of estimating capacity or any related issues.
  • Reviews and tests upcoming truss software versions prior to release. Coordinates new software version updates to insure all estimating departments are using the correct version of the software.
  • Reviews estimating department engineering software settings. Makes sure these settings match the company specified settings. Coordinates any exceptions with the Director of Truss Design and Region Manufacturing Director.
  • Monitors multifamily estimating department's usage of company truss pricing and management systems. Does training where needed to improve or modify usage standards.
  • Assists V.P of Multifamily with recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training employees and handling employee relations issues.
  • Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school (Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred) and 6-8 years of directly related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous managerial experience required. Mitek Truss Software experience required.
COMPETENCIES
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills: Must have the ability to design wood trusses in the current software being used by the company. Must be proficient in designing wood trusses for production.
Other Qualifications: Knowledge of wood frame construction. Must demonstrate excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to handle multiple priorities.
