Job description

Operation Breakthroughโ€™s mission is to help children living in poverty develop to their fullest potential by providing them a safe, loving and educational environment. Operation Breakthrough strives to support and empower the childrenโ€™s families through education, advocacy, emergency aid and referral services.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree with Math Certification grades 9-12 (High School) or 5-9 (Middle School) Note: acquisition of certification will be supported for candidates who meet other qualifications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with diverse populations.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • High level of self-motivation and ability to work with minimal supervision.


EXPERIENCE

  • Job-related experience in STEM and/or project-based learning or school-based teaching.
  • Experience with small group instruction or tutoring.
  • Co-teaching experience a plus


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Math)

  • Work collaboratively with lead Math Facilitators and STEM Lab facilitators
  • Deliver created math mini-lessons to small groups of 8th-10th grade students in conjunction with STEM Lab projects.
  • Co-create math mini-lessons independently and collaboratively with lead Math Facilitator.
  • Collaborate with Ignition Lab facilitators to integrate math into workforce and entrepreneurship labs.
  • Assist in remediating skills gaps from prior grade levels through small group tutoring.
  • Help students develop strong skills in communication, critical thinking, collaboration, and curiosity.
  • Other duties as assigned.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Special Projects)

  • Monitor student progress towards course/activity completion.
  • Work with students and families to monitor progress and maintain communication.
