Summary: To aid in patient diagnosis and treatment, performs accurate tests and procedures on patient specimens.

Generalist position including chemistry, hematology, UA, and coag. Eight-hours shifts during the week, beginning at 5 or 6 a.m. and 6a-6p every third weekend.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs all testing and procedures according to standard laboratory procedure and techniques, producing accurate results.
  • Maintains an operational knowledge of all mechanical and electrical equipment in the lab, including the ability to operate the Lab Interface System
  • Participates in the quality improvement requirements of the laboratory's quality management system. Ensures that quality control and calibration criteria are met
  • Assumes responsibility for attaining required continuing education credits annually
  • Responsible for bench teaching, training and evaluation of students, residents and new employees
  • Demonstrates proper phlebotomy technique, proper identification of patient, correct labeling of samples, and proper processing of specimens.
  • Assists with test/procedure evaluation, implementation, and maintenance; helps to implement change.

Qualifications: MLT ASCP Eligible: Associate Degree in Medical Technology, MLT (ASCP) or HHS eligible. MLT ASCP: Associate Degree in Medical Technology, MLT ASCP required. MLT HEW: Associate Degree in Medical Technology, MLT HEW required. MT ASCP Eligible: Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, MT (ASCP) eligible with HHS certification. MT ASCP: Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, MT (ASCP) registry or other nationally recognized registry.
