Job description

LAND SURVEYOR-IN-TRAINING (LSIT)
Abaci Consulting, Inc. is seeking a full-time Land Surveyor-in-Training (LSIT) to join our team in Grimes, Iowa. This position will oversee land survey, residential site plan, and subdivision platting projects in the Des Moines metro and throughout Central Iowa under the direction of the Land Survey Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish plans to ensure efficiency and quality on land survey projects
  • Research of land records and deeds
  • Manage survey crews conducting survey activities, including but not limited to boundary surveys, plat of surveys, and rural subdivisions
  • Coordinate with other leaders in the firm to identify and capture new business opportunities

BACKGROUND, EXPERIENCE & CREDENTIALS
  • Associate’s degree (or higher) in Land Surveying/Civil Engineering Technology/Math
  • LSIT and working towards an Iowa license as a Professional Land Surveyor
  • Knowledge of boundary, topographic and ALTA/ACSM surveys
  • Knowledge of local governments and regulations that apply to surveying duties
  • Valid driver's license and insured

PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL ATTRIBUTES
  • Ability to mentor and direct team members and identify professional development opportunities
  • Maintain relationships with clients, government representatives, contractors, and vendors

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to work outside in a variety of weather conditions
  • Ability to carry at least 40 pounds over various terrain
  • Occasionally lift at least 80 pounds
