Job Summary:
4P Consulting Inc. is seeking a Data Analytics Analyst II to support enterprise analytics and reporting for Alabama Power. The role involves working with large datasets in cloud environments to ensure reliable data for dashboards and analytical products.
Responsibilities:
• Analyze large, complex datasets to support enterprise reporting and analytics products
• Support and maintain dashboards and reports using Power BI, Tableau, or similar BI tools
• Translate business questions into efficient, analytics-ready datasets
• Ensure datasets are optimized for visualization performance and usability
• Write, optimize, and maintain advanced SQL queries, including:
• Complex joins
• CTEs
• Window functions
• Performance optimization
• Develop reusable, well-documented SQL assets
• Work with cloud-based data platforms such as:
• Databricks
• Azure Synapse
• Snowflake
• BigQuery (or similar)
• Understand and support data ingestion flows from source systems to cloud storage and analytics layers
• Structure data for analytics using:
• Fact and dimension models
• Wide vs. narrow table designs
• Prepare datasets optimized for dashboards and enterprise reporting
• Identify data discrepancies between source systems and cloud datasets
• Troubleshoot data quality, ingestion, and pipeline issues
• Facilitate root-cause analysis and coordinate issue resolution across teams
Qualifications:
Required:
• 3–5 years of professional experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or a related role
• Proven experience working with large datasets in cloud environments
• Advanced SQL proficiency (required)
• Experience supporting enterprise dashboards and analytics products
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with data engineers and SMEs
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred:
• Experience with Power BI
• Experience within the Microsoft Azure ecosystem, including: Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL, Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS)
• Experience with PySpark or Python for data analysis and transformations
• Familiarity with ETL / ELT pipelines and orchestration concepts
• Experience using version control systems (Git or similar)
• Basic understanding of data governance, lineage, or metadata management
• Experience in utilities, energy, infrastructure, or regulated industries
• Familiarity with operational, asset, or time-series data
• Experience working with imperfect or operational source systems
