Job Description:
- Develop comprehensive, high-quality manufacturing work instructions for CNC machining and welding operations.
- Translate engineering designs and manufacturing processes into clear, step-by-step documentation for production operators.
- Serve as the liaison between Manufacturing Engineering and shop-floor personnel to ensure accurate process execution.
- Spend significant time on the production floor observing manufacturing processes, validating workflows, and collaborating with operators.
- Design standardized, repeatable, and error-proof manufacturing processes to improve quality and reduce scrap.
- Create visual work instruction content using CAD models, diagrams, and callouts.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers to continuously improve manufacturing documentation and production efficiency.
- Incorporate quality inspection checkpoints and process controls into work instructions.
Must Haves:
- Associate Degree in an Engineering Discipline.
- Experience working in a CNC machining and/or welding manufacturing environment.
- Experience authoring work instructions, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), or manufacturing process documentation.
- Strong technical writing skills with the ability to simplify complex engineering information.
- Experience using 3D CAD software to develop visual work instruction content.
- Knowledge of machining and welding tooling and fixturing concepts.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively on the production floor.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams including Manufacturing Engineers and production personnel.
- Familiarity with manufacturing quality standards and integrating inspection steps into production processes.
- Ability to analyze manufacturing processes and implement error-proofing (Poka-Yoke) concepts.
Preferred:
- Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related technical field.
- Experience leading machining or welding operations with documented process improvement achievements.
- Experience improving manufacturing workflows and reducing production defects.
Education/Experience: Associate Degree in an Engineering Discipline required. Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related technical field is preferred. Equivalent professional experience in a senior machining or welding lead role with technical writing experience will also be considered.
