Job description

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Quality Control Inspector Lead shall outline responsibilities for ensuring products and services meet quality standards, including leading a team, developing and implementing quality control procedures, and investigating quality issues.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide daily direction to quality control inspectors and material receiving inspector, providing guidance and support as well as assigning daily activities and escalating issues to the Quality Supervisor as needed.
  • Train new hires on quality control procedures and standards.
  • Manage and coordinate quality control activities and projects.
  • Motivate and empower the team to achieve quality goals.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality control processes and systems.
  • Assist upper management in enforcing and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and procedures.
  • Identify areas for improvement in quality control processes and systems.
  • Conduct quality audits and inspections to identify and address potential issues.
  • Implement corrective actions to address quality issues.
  • Maintain accurate and complete quality records.
  • Review of quality reports.
  • Ensure compliance with documentation requirements.
  • Communicate quality issues and findings to relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Provide feedback to improve quality and processes.
  • Interpret drawings, procedures, instructions, and specifications for determining the acceptance of the product undergoing inspection
  • Prepare nonconformance reports for found defects an participate in the root cause investigation to eliminate recurrence
  • Assist in the training of other personnel as required by the appropriate management personnel or as required by the specific task being performed
  • Review Inspection and Test Plan as required
  • Coordinate with 3rd party Inspections
  • Conduct daily safety/quality meetings
  • Other duties as assigned by TAS

JOB SKILLS:

  • Strong leadership, organizational, interpersonal, time management and communication/writing skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Google Docs
  • Knowledge of quality control processes, procedures, ISO9001, and tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as drawings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedures, and specifications.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, written and verbal, with various levels of management, customers, vendors, and other employees.
  • Ability to use basic mathematics in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve quality issues by performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Ability to analyze data and identify trends.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Work with minimal supervision in the accomplishment of duties.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail and ensure accuracy.

RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of two years of experience in quality assurance, quality control or quality management
  • Minimum of two years of experience with ISO-9000 or similar quality management systems.
  • Minimum of one year of experience with ASME Section VIII, IX, V, ASME B31.1, ASME B31.3, ASME B31.5, ASME B31.9, AWS D1 .1, SSPC, or similar welding, construction, and quality codes.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Associates Degree in Applied Science or any other relevant field (engineering, science, quality management) is a plus

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to obtain Visual/Magnetic Testing Level II certification within six months of employment

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Qualifications in NDE methods or a Certified level II
  • ISO 9001 trained

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Ability to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally and/or a negligible amount of weight frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Performs other physical activities including use of fingers, stooping, crouching, talking, hearing and performing repetitive motions. Visual acuity requirements include color, depth perception and field of vision necessary to prepare and analyze data and figures, operate a computer terminal and read and understand English. The incumbent will be subject to shop environmental conditions.
