Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior HANA Database Administrator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and optimization of SAP HANA databases. You will play a key role in ensuring database performance, availability, security, and compliance while supporting critical business operations and projects.  This position requires and active TS/SCI+ poly and onsite 100%. 

Key Responsibilities:

Database Administration:

• Install, configure, and maintain SAP HANA database systems across development, QA, and production environments.

• Manage database schema, table design, and object creation to support business applications.

• Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize queries for efficiency.

Performance Tuning & Optimization:

• Proactively monitor and optimize system performance, memory usage, and storage allocation.

• Perform database tuning to improve query performance and system response times.

• Analyze execution plans and work with application teams to optimize SQL queries.

Backup and Recovery:

• Implement and manage database backup strategies, including full, incremental, and differential backups.

• Design and test disaster recovery plans to ensure high availability and minimal downtime.

• Perform system recovery in case of data corruption, hardware failures, or other incidents.

Security & Compliance:

• Implement and enforce database security policies to protect sensitive data.

• Manage user access, roles, and privileges in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.

• Conduct audits to ensure database environments adhere to compliance standards.

Upgrades & Migrations:

• Plan and execute HANA database upgrades, patches, and migrations.

• Support SAP application upgrades that impact database systems.

• Lead efforts to migrate data from legacy systems to SAP HANA.

Collaboration and Support:

• Work closely with application, infrastructure, and SAP Basis teams to align database operations with business needs.

• Provide technical guidance to junior DBAs and assist in skill development.

• Troubleshoot and resolve database issues in a timely manner to support SLAs.

Documentation:

• Maintain up-to-date documentation for database configurations, processes, and best practices.

• Create technical runbooks, operational procedures, and troubleshooting guides.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Experience:

• 9+ years of experience in database administration, including at least 5 years of experience working with SAP HANA.

• Proven expertise in SAP HANA database architecture, administration, and optimization.

• Experience in implementing high-availability and disaster recovery solutions.

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in HANA database installation, configuration, and management.

• Strong knowledge of SQL scripting, query tuning, and database design principles.

• Familiarity with SAP Basis administration and integration with SAP systems.

• Experience with tools like HANA Studio, HANA Cockpit, or SAP Solution Manager.

• Knowledge of Linux operating systems and shell scripting.

• Understanding of cloud-based HANA deployments (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP).

Preferred Certifications:

  • SAP Certified Technology Specialist – SAP HANA Installation and Operations.

• SAP Certified Development Associate – SAP HANA.

• ITIL Certification (preferred but not mandatory).
