Job Description
AbbVie Information Research is seeking an Associate Data Scientist II who would contribute to the architecture, design, and development of the Data & Analytics Platform, supporting world-class research and development at AbbVie. As an Associate Data Scientist, you will be a core member of a high-performance team of data engineers and architects focusing on driving technology innovation and continuous improvement. This role collaborates with solution architects, product owners, program managers, business analysts, infrastructure teams, and service providers to deliver data and analytics solutions.
Associate Data Scientist would contribute to the architecture, design, and development of the fit for purpose Data & Analytics solution in a timely manner, under the direction of a more senior leader. Possess general understanding of software development and technology infrastructure with respect to data and analytics (Databases, Data integration, Data Warehousing, Data Analysis, Visualization Tools and MLOps)
Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine tasks competently and independently and generate reliable and consistent results.
  • Learn and understand various data engineering activities, including data warehousing, master data management, data cataloging, system integration, data streaming, data visualization, data analysis, and data ops.
  • Learn and understand pharmaceutical R&D/Life Science centric datasets.
  • Produces and maintains required technical documentation associated with work products.
  • Learn and contribute to the architecture, design, development, and maintenance of large-scale data & analytics platforms, system integrations, data pipelines, data models & API integrations to support evolving business strategy.
  • Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies, including code of conduct, safety, GxP compliance, data security, and the software development lifecycle.

Qualifications
Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education, with 2 years' experience; or Master's Degree with 0 years' experience.
  • Must have experience with software development life cycle.
  • Experience with data analysis programming languages (e.g., SQL, Python & Apache Spark, SAS & R).
  • Knowledge and practical experience in cloud platforms, Knowledge graph, Elastic search, data streaming, and LLM models.

Preferred:
  • Experience working with Pharmaceutical R&D industry-centric datasets is preferred.
  • Experience working with Cloud platforms, MPP engines, Graph databases and search is preferred.
