Director of Maintenance
Location: 4750 Whitehall Rd, Muskegon, MI 49445 Property: Michigan's Adventure
Reports To: Park President
Position Overview
At Michigan's Adventure, we create fun-filled memories that last a lifetime. From thrilling rides to immersive water attractions and unique resort experiences, our park brings together excitement, connection, and tradition for families and guests.
The Director of Maintenance is responsible for leading all Ride, Waterpark, Facility, Construction, and Landscaping/Grounds Maintenance activities at the property level to drive safety and the guest experience. This role translates enterprise strategy into localized execution while ensuring alignment between financial performance and the guest experience.
This key senior leader sets the tone for the associate experience, champions safety, monitors and controls operating costs, manages staffing needs, and provides direction to the team. The Director works closely with the Park Operations Team to ensure safe and proper operation of all rides and waterpark attractions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Sets expectations and directs the work involved in maintaining the park and attractions, including division employees, other divisions, and contractors.
  • Owns the Associate Experience in the Maintenance Division, emphasizing a culture of strong communication, ownership and accountability for of areas of responsibility, and recognition for success.
  • Analyzes and solves maintenance problems, partnering with other parks and ride manufacturers.
  • Oversees the preparation and adherence to division budget as well as capital projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Park President.
  • Recommend changes in procedure that are consistent with a continuous improvement approach within the division.
  • Enforce company policies.
  • Enforce company safety standards and assist in improving safety within the division wherever possible.

Qualifications:
  • 4-year degree, certification, or equivalent combination of experience.
  • Minimum 7 years experience in Maintenance supervision or related field
  • Valid drivers license.
  • AIMS and/or NAARSO certifications are a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Project Management experience with proven track record of delivering projects on time and on budget.
  • Ability to conduct an effective interview of applicants for upper-leadership positions in the division.
  • Able to follow company guidelines as they relate to communicating with and assisting park guests and fellow employees.
  • Data-driven mindset with experience in analytics, reporting, and performance optimization.
  • Strong work ethic, personal accountability, and experience managing cross-functional teams.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in engineering, business, project management, or related field
  • AIMS and/or NAARSO certifications are a plus
  • 8-12+ years of progressive experience in the Maintenance field
  • Proven track record of project management, team development, financial discipline, and process improvement
  • Strong leadership experience managing cross-functional teams
  • Data-driven mindset with experience in analytics, reporting, and performance optimization
