About you and this role Dow has an exciting opportunity for an Azure Solution Manager and a Software Engineer located in Midland, MI or Houston, TX. The successful candidate will serve as a technical leader responsible for the end-to-end architectural design and strategic implementation of our most complex and high-profile innovative data initiatives. This role requires deep technical mastery to support, build, and enhance Dow’s Azure Databricks Lakehouse Platform. You will be critical in shaping the data landscape, ensuring our architecture is reliable, cost-effective, and ready to power advanced, high-impact applications across the business, including: Mission-Critical Machine Learning (ML) Solutions Real-Time and Streaming Data Consumption Generative and Agentic AI Systems Advanced Reporting and Enterprise-grade BI Complex Data-Powered Web Applications As a Software Engineer, you will own and manage a portfolio of digital solutions and practices, guiding them through their full lifecycle—from analysis and design to implementation, adoption, optimization, and end-of-life retirement. Your goal is to deliver advanced functional and business capabilities that accelerate Dow’s digital transformation. You will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary IT team—including analysts, designers, developers, and support specialists—to deliver innovative, user-centric solutions. A key responsibility is to orchestrate functional and technical requirements analysis, focusing on experience, simplification, automation, efficiency, and reliability.

What You’ll Do

Strategic Design & Scoping: Lead the end-to-end technical design and scoping of high-impact projects. You will translate ambiguous business challenges into clear, efficient, and scalable solutions with robust architectural blueprints. Technical Mentorship & Code Quality: Serve as a primary technical mentor for Associate and mid-level Platform Engineers, elevating the team's overall skillset. You will establish coding standards, perform complex code reviews, and drive the adoption of solution designs and best practices across all skillsets. Solution Design & Delivery Excellence: Architect and deliver advanced Azure cloud data solutions that optimize performance and cost through scalable architectures, efficient resource utilization, and proactive resolution of complex bottlenecks—ensuring reliability, agility, and minimal compute expense. Strategic Alignment: Work closely with the Senior Solution Manager to evaluate new technologies, define work processes, and make strategic decisions that align data platform capabilities with the company's long-term IT and corporate strategies. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner effectively with a wide range of data professionals—including Data Engineers, Data Scientists, AI/ML Engineers, and Business Analysts—as well as non-technical business partners to define requirements and deliver data products that meet high-stakes analytical needs. Architecture & Deployment Ownership: Take ownership of CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure components in Azure DevOps/Git, championing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices to ensure highly reliable, automated, and secure system deployments. Service Leadership: Fulfill service or practice manager responsibilities for IT, following the ITIL framework to deliver value. Requirements & Experience Mapping: Analyze business and functional requirements; map user journeys, UX, and user stories to enhance employee and customer experience. Solution Lifecycle Management: Own end-to-end lifecycle—design, architecture, integration (buy vs. build), development, testing, adoption, and retirement. Delivery Excellence: Support both waterfall and agile methodologies; ensure successful implementation and user adoption. Performance & Support: Define supplier and team support models; monitor SLA, OLA, and KPI compliance and act on deviations. Integration & Optimization: Coordinate with other managers for end-to-end process integration and optimization. Roadmap & Innovation: Define improvement and innovation roadmaps; assess resources, technology, and investment needs. Thought Leadership: Foster a community of solution experts and act as a domain thought leader. Resource & Financial Management: Assist with workload analysis, capacity planning, and lifecycle cost management. Strategic Enablement: Partner with stakeholders to support M&A activities as needed.

What You Bring

Core Technical Mastery (5+ Years Demonstrated Experience) Azure Data Platform Engineering: Proven experience in architecting and implementing enterprise-grade data solutions on Azure, leveraging services such as Azure Data Factory, Logic Apps, Function Apps, Power Platform, and Databricks to enable secure, scalable, and cost-efficient data pipelines. Performance & Scalability Optimization: Expertise in diagnosing and tuning distributed data processing workloads, ensuring optimal performance for large-scale, high-volume environments through advanced optimization strategies and resource management. Cloud Orchestration Expertise: Deep expertise in leveraging Azure Data Factory (ADF), Databricks Workflows, or equivalent enterprise orchestrators (e.g., Airflow) for complex metadata management, failure handling, and multi-cloud data integration. Polyglot Persistence: Proven ability to manage, optimize, and integrate data from diverse persistence layers, including relational (SQL Server), document (CosmosDB), and graph (Neo4j) databases. Leadership and Strategic Mindset Technical Leadership & Influence: Proven ability to lead technical implementation for high-impact projects, effectively articulating technical visions to engineering peers and senior stakeholders, and influencing strategic technology choices. Comfortable delivering technical seminars and evangelizing data solutions best practices to promote a culture of performance and excitement for the field. Required Qualifications

A minimum of a bachelor’s degree or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E5 ranking or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or Sergeant or 8 years of relevant experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in Platform Engineering, Software Engineering, or a closely related field. A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. Preferred Skills

Experience managing cross-functional teams and delivering complex projects.
