Location: Zeeland, Michigan
Department: Engineering / Quality
Reports To: Shift Supervisor (with dotted-line responsibility to Quality Manager and Manufacturing Engineering Manager)

Position Summary

  • The Manufacturing Engineering Technician / Quality Technician provides hands-on technical support for manufacturing and quality operations within ODL's Glass Tempering and Insulating Glass (IG) Assembly processes.

  • Working closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Production, and Maintenance teams, the Technician helps identify process issues, collect and analyze production data, support corrective actions, and implement improvements.

Manufacturing Process Support

  • Support daily manufacturing operations by monitoring process performance and production efficiency.

  • Assist in troubleshooting manufacturing equipment and process-related issues.
  • Collect, document, and analyze production data.
  • Support implementation of process improvements.
  • Update work instructions and process documentation.

Quality Support

  • Perform quality inspections, audits, and verification activities.
  • Assist with investigations of defects, scrap, rework, and customer complaints.
  • Support root cause analysis using 5 Why, Fishbone, and 8D methodologies.
  • Maintain quality documentation and records.

Candidate Requirements

Education

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical/vocational education or associate degree in manufacturing, engineering technology, quality, or a related field preferred.

Experience

  • 2-5 years of experience in a manufacturing, quality, process, or engineering technician role.
  • Experience with manufacturing processes, quality inspections, troubleshooting, and/or process improvement preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret technical specifications, work instructions, and quality standards.
  • Ability to collect, document, and analyze production and quality data.
  • Familiarity with quality and root cause analysis tools, including 5 Why, Fishbone, and 8D.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
