Job description

Our team of Data Analysts leverages knowledge of Sentry's data systems and business processes to deliver data reporting solutions that meet business needs.

To accomplish this, they develop data queries that will aid in the analysis of financial, policy and pricing trends. Sentry relies on our Data Analysts to provide insights into how business processes effect data and recommendations for data usage. Delivering solutions to today's problems means leveraging business acumen while carefully analyzing data to understand changes in the world around us.
This position can be filled as a Data Analyst, Data Analyst II or Data Analyst Sr. depending on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.

What You'll Do

Our Data Analysts get to know business areas to fully understand their processes and their corresponding data needs and apply this knowledge when extracting and collating data to meet user requests. In addition, you'll:

  • Gather data from multiple internal sources in an efficient and effective way.

  • Extract and integrate data from external sources to provide additional insights into business processes and results.

  • Develop an understanding of business processes and how they impact the flow of data within internal systems.

  • Maintain knowledge of the predictive analytics and insurance industries to ensure all the best output is provided.

  • Work closely with team members to analyze reported results and determine if output meets expected outcomes.

  • Assist with the maintenance and testing of data systems and investigate data quality problems.

  • Collaborate with team members and IT to resolve data system issues.

What it Takes

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience focusing on data analytics, computer science or similar major.

  • 1+ years of programming experience with SAS and/or SQL experience preferred.

  • Organizational skills to coordinate, request and control data from numerous sources.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including analytical and research ability.

  • Demonstrated understanding of data systems and tools used for reporting.

  • Experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.

  • Work with purpose ensuring deadlines are met.
