Advertised Job Summary
The Award Setup Post Award Accountant Perform reviews of sponsored awards to ensure accurate and timely award setup and modification in the financial system and compliance with sponsor and institutional requirements. Provide guidance and technical assistance in the management of sponsored awards.
Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience
  • Requires a bachelor's degree in a job related field and 3 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials Preferred Qualifications
  • PeopleSoft or other ERP experience
  • Higher education experience
  • Audit experience
  • Sponsored award and/or contract accounting experience
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, theories, and terminology of accounting, budgeting, and fiscal management.
  • Knowledge of the principles of grant management and reporting.
  • Knowledge of federal and state fiscal accounting processes.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex financial data, reports, and contract terms and conditions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
Job Duties
Job Duty
Manage the sponsored award setup and/or modification process by reviewing fully executed and approved agreements and entering the applicable award information into the financial system (e.g., bill plan, budget, indirect cost rates), ensuring compliance with award, sponsor, institutional, and regulatory requirements.
Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 45 Job Duty
Perform required follow-up on sponsored award setup and modification matters, including obtaining full resolution and clarification on any issues encountered. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on sponsored award setup and modification.
Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 20 Job Duty
Coordinate requested updates and adjustments to the project team in the financial system. Review and monitor risk accounts and on-hold bill plans. Review and approve sponsored award-related personnel action forms (e.g., account changes).
Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 15 Job Duty
Collaborate with the Accounts Receivable Accountants and Post Award Accountants on sponsored award matters (e.g., bill plans). Provide backup and intradepartmental support as needed. Assist in developing resources and trainings, both informal and formal, for relevant stakeholders.
Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 10 Job Duty
Review, analyze, and evaluate existing policies, procedures, programs, plans, systems, and operations to develop improvements in efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity. Develop, document, and maintain program performance standards, including best practices and standard operating procedures, to ensure knowledge transfer and understanding.
