The Opportunity

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University invites applications for a 12-month, non-tenure track faculty administrative position as Assistant Professor of English as a Second Language (ESL) and Associate Director of the Embry-Riddle Language Institute (ERLI) at our beautiful Prescott, AZ campus.

Position Summary

This position combines instructional excellence with academic leadership and program administration. As part of the relaunch of the Embry-Riddle Language Institute (ERLI) at the Prescott campus, the successful candidate will help lead the development and growth of a revitalized intensive English program. The role requires initiative, adaptability, and an entrepreneurial mindset to implement an established program model while delivering high-quality instruction and supporting curriculum oversight, assessment processes, faculty coordination, student advising, recruitment and enrollment efforts, and day-to-day operations. The Associate Director is based at the Prescott campus and reports directly to the ERLI Director at the Daytona Beach campus. Close cross-campus collaboration is essential to ensure consistency in academic standards, student outcomes, accreditation compliance, and alignment with ERLI's mission and strategic goals.

ERLI's mission is to provide high-quality English language instruction that prepares speakers of other languages to enter and succeed at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University or another U.S. university.

Primary Responsibilities

Teaching & Student Success:

  • Teach ESL/EAP and content-based courses (teaching load adjusted to reflect administrative duties).

  • Ensure alignment of instruction with ERLI curriculum and student learning outcomes.

  • Provide academic advising and intervention to support international student retention and success.


Academic Oversight & Assessment

  • Implement and monitor ERLI curriculum at the Prescott campus in coordination with the ERLI Director.

  • Oversee placement testing, diagnostics, and final exam processes.

  • Conduct item analysis and review assessment effectiveness to ensure validity and alignment with program outcomes with the ERLI Assessment Coordinator.

  • Train and support faculty in assessment procedures and academic policies.

Data Collection, Analysis & Reporting (Prescott Campus Lead):

  • Lead all ERLI Prescott data collection efforts, including enrollment, retention, progression, placement outcomes, and student performance metrics.

  • Maintain accurate academic and enrollment records in compliance with university policy.

  • Analyze student achievement and program data to inform instructional and operational decision-making.

  • Prepare required campus-level and program-level reports.

  • Contribute data and documentation required for CEA annual reporting, self-study processes, and accreditation review.

Accreditation & Compliance (CEA):

  • Ensure Prescott operations align with CEA accreditation standards.

  • Maintain required documentation and records for ongoing compliance.

  • Support preparation for accreditation reviews, annual reports, and program evaluation processes.

Faculty Leadership & Program Operations:

  • Assist with faculty recruitment, onboarding, mentoring, and scheduling at the Prescott campus.

  • Support faculty professional development and instructional consistency.

  • Develop course schedules and coordinate classroom assignments.

  • Serve as liaison between ERLI and Prescott campus offices (Admissions, ISSS, Registrar, Student Services).

  • Coordinate student orientation, placement, and onboarding processes.

  • Manage day-to-day program operations and respond to internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required Education and Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or closely related field.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of postsecondary ESL/EAP teaching experience.

  • Experience with curriculum development and student assessment.

  • Demonstrated ability to support and advise international students.

  • Familiarity with instructional technology (e.g., Canvas, Zoom).

  • Strong intercultural communication skills.

  • Native or near-native proficiency in written and spoken English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in an intensive English program in the United States.

  • Prior academic leadership or coordinator experience.

  • Familiarity with accreditation standards (e.g., CEA).

  • Demonstrated commitment to sustained professional development in areas relevant to language education, assessment, or academic leadership.

  • Multilingual proficiency.
