What is the opportunity?

As Senior Associate, Credit Transaction Review, you will join a team of credit professionals working to ensure the timely completion of assigned credit reviews of borrowing relationships within the Global Wealth Management credit book, by working in collaboration with the regional credit teams and client relationship managers.

What will you do?

  • Credit reviews to include: financial analysis and risk rating of borrower and guarantor (if applicable), collateral review and analysis, determination of covenant compliance, documentation review.

  • Ensure exceptions to policy are properly identified, approved, and monitored.

  • Partner with regional credit team and Relationship Managers where appropriate to gather all relevant information to conduct credit review.

  • Raise concerns / issues surrounding individual credits that present a heightened risk to the firm's balance sheet.

  • Highlight and escalate to manager any credit writing deficiencies noted upon completion of annual reviews and make proposals to avoid such deficiencies going forward.

  • Participate in ad hoc projects as requested by manager including projects to improve the data integrity of credit reporting and suggest systematic improvements to improve efficiencies within the credit management processes and work flow.

  • Create opportunities for and support the team to use automation, process optimization and simplification to free up team capacity. Leverage AI tools (RBC Assist Pro) and best practices.

What do you need to succeed?
Must Have

  • Degree or diploma from an accredited university or college in Finance, Business, Economics or related experience

  • 3+ years of credit underwriting experience; solid risk assessment/credit experience

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills in the English language

  • Knowledge of various collateral types including, cash, marketable securities/investment products, real estate, and insurance-secured transactions.

Nice to Have

  • Proven successful experience with and understanding of securities based lending, mortgages and life insurance financing.

  • Displays sound independent judgment with strong understanding of legal/documentation risks as well as well-versed in credit control requirements and processes with ability to deliver results under pressure.

  • Demonstrated ability to proactively manage deadlines and work within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent computer skills with advanced knowledge of computing systems and spreadsheets including formulas and calculations
