Associate General Counsel, Global High-Tech, Data Centers

Job Summary

Ecolab is seeking a highly experienced, commercially focused Associate General Counsel to serve as a strategic legal leader for the Global High-Tech, Data Center business, focused on the data center industry. The Associate General Counsel will provide legal expertise on complex matters of strategic importance to the business and Company. The successful candidate will be an exceptional legal practitioner with excellent judgment and personal integrity. This role provides practical legal and business counsel across a broad range of sophisticated matters and partners closely with senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders to enable commercial growth while appropriately managing risk. The Associate General Counsel will collaborate with the Global Water Sector General Counsel to set legal direction for the Global High-Tech business, ensuring the right resources and processes are in place to execute the business strategy, and will be accountable for talent development, performance management, and delivery of timely, high-quality legal support across the business.

What You Will Do

  • Partner with leadership to understand the objectives of the business and develop commercial contracting strategies aligned to those goals.
  • Advise senior executives on complex legal issues with material business risk; assess exposure and drive practical risk-mitigation solutions.
  • Draft and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements (master purchase and service, supply, lease, maintenance, SLAs, distribution, LOIs).
  • Design and implement procedures for contract review, negotiation, and approval.
  • Deliver training for business stakeholders on contract provisions and negotiation.
  • Provide legal and strategic business advice across a wide variety of commercial matters.
  • Evaluate business practices for legal risk and proactively advise operating leaders.
  • Coordinate with compliance, litigation, IP, and risk management experts.
  • Manage outside counsel.
  • Collaborate with finance, supply chain, insurance, and R&D.

Minimum Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials. Admission in a US state bar is a plus, but not required.
  • 12+ years of legal experience (in-house and/or law firm) in commercial contracting in global organizations.
  • Experience with data usage, cybersecurity, and insurance issues.
  • Ability to learn industrial product/service delivery models.
  • Proven leadership and mentoring capabilities.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder influence skills.
  • High integrity, credibility, and professionalism.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in global high-tech, data center industry, and complex contract negotiations.
  • Ability to operate in a matrixed, global organization.
  • Experience leveraging AI solutions in legal service delivery.
