Job Description:
Assists in providing administrative or operations support to an assigned department, assisting with general administration duties and projects which require a thorough knowledge of a complete and specialized function. Incumbents apply this specialized functional knowledge to independently analyze and respond to administrative matters within established limits.
Position Salary Range:
  • $46,000 - $50,000; DOE.
Essential Duties:
  • Assists in administration of programs, developing program materials, and marketing and promotional materials.
  • Coordinates programs as assigned. Under direction of supervisor, engages in recruitment and retention activities.
  • Assists in specialized administrative, operational or technical projects in area of assignment.
  • Analyzes procedures and makes recommendations for improvement.
  • Maintains databases and prepares reports as needed.
  • Collaborates with assigned senior staff member in order to gain working knowledge and experience related to department administration or operations.
  • Coordinates, schedules, and tracks progress of specialized work projects or departmental functions.
  • Responds verbally or in writing to inquiries, complaints or problems and makes necessary adjustments of a non-routine nature.
  • Assists in coordinating workshops, meetings, seminars and activities as directed, including logistics and appropriate communications.
  • Acts as primary contact for assigned function with outside organizations or other departments; responds to technical administrative or operational questions and ensures necessary follow up.
  • Participates in special projects with staff as directed.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology or related area is preferred.
  • Demonstrated student service orientation.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers, faculty,students, administration and other interested parties.
  • Knowledge of ASU academic structure and organization.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of student information systems (DARS, PeopleSoft, Salesforce).
  • Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to needs of a student population.
  • Ability to rapidly adapt and effectively utilize new technology, practices, policies and methods.
  • Ability to work effectively in an environment subject to quickly changing priorities.
  • Ability to effectively communicate.
Working Environment:
  • Office environment working with students, academic advisors, and faculty. Office is open 8am - 5pm Monday through Friday.
  • Position will be in person with possibility of some remote work after training is complete.
  • Department of Psychology Undergraduate Advising office is a dynamic environment working with both Psychology and Neuroscience students. We serve approximately 3000 undergraduate students in both majors. Our office works proactively to help our students take advantage of the opportunities offered through the department, college, and university.
