Job Description

Title: Associate Automation Engineer

Key Accountabilities:

  • Develop power conversion applications, including control algorithms and software, to support advanced power generation, microgrid, and energy management solutions.
  • Define technical requirements for power electronic equipment, lead supplier selection activities, and provide technical guidance to manufacturers throughout project execution.
  • Perform system sizing and selection of power conversion components, including power electronics, filters, transformers, and auxiliary circuits, while designing control systems for research and development programs.
  • Design and integrate interfaces between generators, engine ECUs, voltage regulators, PLCs, HMIs, control panels, protective relays, and other proprietary hardware to ensure reliable system operation.
  • Establish testing, validation, and laboratory procedures for developed solutions, create simulation interfaces between electrical and mechanical systems, and analyze overall system performance to support special customer applications and continuous product improvement.

Basic Requirements:

  • Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S without sponsorship. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or 4 years of Controls, Electrical, or Automation Engineering Experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience with grid-tied AC-DC and DC-DC power converters, including power conversion/drives platforms, filter design, transformer selection, and related power electronics applications.
  • Experience with embedded software development using C or similar programming languages is preferred; exposure to HIL, MIL, and SIL testing environments and model-based development methodologies is a plus.
  • Develop simulation interface between electrical and mechanical applications in Genset systems
  • Analyze voltage regulators, control panels, engine ECUs, PLC's, and other protective relays
  • Desired knowledge in electrical system design, fault analysis, troubleshooting, and implementation of corrective solutions, with proficiency in vendor-specific programming and configuration tools for power conversion equipment.
  • Desired knowledge in national and regional grid interconnection standards and requirements, including UL 1741 (SA/SB), IEEE 1547, and other applicable grid codes.
