CTG's premier client has a contract assignment for a Control Systems Engineer.

Type: Contract
Job Title: Control Systems Engineer
Location: Wilmington, NC
Candidates must be able to commute and work onsite in Wilmington, NC
Pay Rate: Based on experience
Work Hours: M-F 8am-5pm
Education: Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science; or equivalent experience

A successful candidate in this position will possess strong soft skills as well as:

  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Description:

This position will work with other team members to manage, modify, and develop computer systems required to manufacture optical fiber. The Control Systems Engineer will participate in or occasionally lead projects to meet the plant's objectives, drive cost reduction efforts, and support capacity expansion initiatives.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Assist a team of engineers in providing production support and troubleshooting for a 24/7 manufacturing operation.
  • Collaborate with production associates, technicians, and engineers to ensure reliable equipment operation via automated control systems and user interfaces.
  • Support process and product optimization/improvement efforts.
  • Provide training for engineers and/or production associates as needed for new processes, equipment, or control systems.
  • Participate in capital projects.
  • Provide occasional after-hours, on-call support as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science; or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: 5+ years in a technical role or relevant experience.

Required Skills:

  • Knowledge in computer and PLC programming skills such as: VB, .NET, C, Real-time systems, or similar.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience integrating computers into manufacturing processes to increase efficiency and lower costs.
  • Familiarity with MS Windows, iFIX, EthernetIP I/O, Microsoft Office, real-time control systems, and SCADA. Experience with motion systems is a plus but not required.
  • Proven experience in production support within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills; ability to understand the underlying needs behind operations and engineering requests.
  • Ability to troubleshoot simple low voltage electrical circuitry.
