Job description

The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor's College of Humanities and Sciences seeks qualified faculty for its Computer Science, Engineering, and Physics Department, beginning in late July of 2026, with initial appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, commensurate with experience. UMHB seeks faculty who are active Christians and dedicated teacher-scholars to prepare students for leadership, service, and faith-informed discernment in a global society.
The Computer Science, Engineering, and Physics Department offers a general engineering degree accredited by ABET EAC with emphasis in mechanical and electrical engineering. We strive to offer a top-quality undergraduate program through personal interaction with our students and adoption of best practices in engineering education. We seek applicants who are passionate about teaching and mentoring undergraduate students.
UMHB is conveniently located in Belton, a historic town of 22,000 in the heart of central Texas. Nearby cities are Temple (7 miles), Waco (42 miles), Austin (60 miles), San Antonio (130 miles) and Dallas/Ft. Worth (130 miles). Excellent schools, abundant cultural and recreational opportunities, and a high quality of life are hallmarks of the local community.
Faculty Responsibilities: Activities required of all faculty include exemplary teaching, curriculum development, student recruitment and advising, professional attainment, and service to department, college, university, and the community.
Specific Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate courses in introductory and advanced engineering courses, with a focus on classes within our major's electrical engineering emphasis. The teaching load is typically 12 hours per long semester.
Qualifications:
• Must be an active and committed Christian who will support the University's mission and who will be an active participant in their local church.
• Doctorate in Engineering is required (preferably from an ABET accredited institution); ABD will be considered (tenure-track status requires terminal degree in hand). Preference will be given to applicants with electrical engineering degrees/backgrounds, but related fields will be considered.
• Excellent teaching and communication skills, a dedication to professional attainment, and commitment to quality improvement are essential.
• Must agree to the University's Employee Statement of Understanding
