Summary
Performs all MRI routine procedures for the diagnostic treatment of specified diseases or conditions.Major Job Functions
The following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job. The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below. In addition, specific functions may change from time to time:
  • Perform all routine procedures designated within the MRI Section of Radiology Department
  • Demonstrates competency and efficiency in the treatment, care of and interaction with all patients of any age to include neo-natal, newborns, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics
  • Responsible for assessing and clearing the patient for MRI safety
  • Reviews the physician order or patient chart for appropriate order, diagnosis and physicians signature
  • Confirms the signed Patient MRI Interview Form
  • Prepares the patient for the procedure, answers any questions or refers questions to the radiologist assigned
  • Responsible for beginning and ending the procedure in the computer system to ensure proper billing for services and to maintain department productivity relative to work area
  • Provides a safe environment to include but not limited to magnetic field exposure, infection control guidelines and Universal Precautions
  • Maintains good guest relations with patients, visitors, hospital staff and medical staff to include the use of AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation and Thank you)
  • Monitors the quality of care based on on-going monitors striving for continuous quality improvement
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:
Education and Formal Training:
  • ARRT Registered required or
  • Graduate from an Associate in Applied Science in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), required
  • Any applicant not registered as an ARRT in MRI must provide documentation of application with the ARRT to sit for the MRI registry
  • Registered in MRI with the ARRT is required post one (1) year of hiring date. Failure to achieve registration post one (1) year, will result in termination of employment

Work Experience:
  • 1-2 years preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
  • Communication skills
  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity
  • Knowledge of growth and development
  • Knowledge of the range of treatment needed for all age groups to include neo-natal, newborns, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics

Physical Requirements:
  • Mobility to assume awkward positions and respond to emergency situations.
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift 100 lbs./carry objects up to 50 lbs. and be able to bend
  • May involve skin, eye, or mucous membrane contact with blood or other potentially infectious material
