Our client is seeking an Associate Engineer to support cyber response activities aligned to the NIST Core Cybersecurity Framework functions of Identify, Detect, Respond, and Recover. The role support cyber security operations and digital forensics activities within a highly regulated environment. This role works under regular supervision and partners closely with senior analysts, IT teams, and vendors to protect systems, data, and networks in alignment with the NIST Cybersecurity Framework.

Safety is a core responsibility in this role, and candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to following safety procedures and stopping work if unsafe conditions exist. assists with investigating, designing, and developing software and hardware security technologies, maintaining access controls and lifecycle processes for workstations, servers, and networks, and ensuring data integrity and confidentiality using encryption and data retention technologies.

The position collaborates with vendors to develop technical solutions and supports policy alignment to customer requirements while promoting safe work practices.

Due to client requirements, applicants must be willing and able to work on a W2 basis. For our W2 consultants, we offer a comprehensive benefits package including Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage, 401(k) with company match, and life insurance

Pay Rate: $23 - $25 per hour W2.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the investigation, design, and development of software and hardware security solutions
  • Support cyber response activities aligned with the NIST Cybersecurity Framework (Identify, Detect, Respond, Recover)
  • Help maintain the integrity of workstations, servers, and networks through access controls and secure software lifecycle practices
  • Assist in implementing encryption and data retention technologies to ensure data confidentiality and integrity
  • Collaborate with vendors to develop and evaluate technical security solutions
  • Support forensic investigations under the guidance of senior analysts
  • Document security and forensic processes, findings, and procedures
  • Ensure company policies and procedures align with customer and regulatory requirements
  • Continuously build technical skills through training, documentation, and hands-on experience

Experience Requirements:
  • Ability to participate in group problem solving and communicate with technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with resource materials and ability to conduct timely research.
  • Willingness to seek guidance from senior technical personnel when needed.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for non-technical audiences.

Preferred experience:

  • Experience with digital forensic tools such as Cellebrite, Magnet Forensics Axiom, or OpenText
  • Familiarity with SIEM tools
  • Experience assisting with forensic examinations of computers, mobile devices, and storage media
  • Experience documenting forensic processes and maintaining chain-of-custody standards
  • Exposure to preparing forensic reports for technical, legal, or compliance stakeholders
  • Experience developing or updating security policies and procedures
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, GIAC Certified Forensic Analyst)
  • Knowledge of current trends in digital forensics, cyber security, mobile devices, and encryption/decryption methods

Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor degree in an IT related discipline such as Information Technology, Computer Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering, or a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Digital Forensics, Cyber Security, or a related IT field.
  • Or a non-related bachelor degree with 2 years of proven performance in related assignments.
  • Or an associate degree in an IT related discipline with 2 years of proven performance in related assignments.
  • Or a non-related associate degree with 4 years of proven performance in related assignments.
  • In lieu of a degree, a high school diploma with at least 6 years of equivalent experience.
