Description:

To ensure the successful execution of all banquet functions through effective leadership, operational oversight, and communication with banquet associates and resort departments. Responsible for overseeing event setup and service execution, addressing guest requests and operational needs during events, and supporting the administrative functions of the Banquet Department. 

Responsibilities 

  • Responsible for the daily supervision and direction of the Banquet team. 
  • Responsible for interviewing and selecting new Banquet server associates. 
  • Responsible for the successful on-boarding and continuous training of Banquet server associates. 
  • Effectively coach, counsel and discipline associates as needed. 
  • Complete and issue performance evaluations, as well as provide on-going coaching to Banquet server associates. 
  • Support a positive work environment of employee growth and development, interdepartmental teamwork, and exceptional customer service. 
  • Conduct pre-shift meetings with banquet associates to review event details, service expectations, operational updates, and departmental priorities. 
  • Meets with Banquets daily to ensure that dress and personal hygiene requirements are met in accordance with department standards. 
  • Sets priorities for all Banquet server associates; reviews daily worksheets and assigns specific duties to each Banquet Server. 
  • Review Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) to ensure all event details, timelines, setups, and guest expectations are executed accurately. 
  • Responsible for initiating and maintaining contact with each meeting planner (in-house) to ensure that all last-minute requests and changes are provided. 
  • Partner closely with Culinary, Sales, Stewarding, Engineering, and Front Office teams to ensure seamless event execution. 
  • Inspects each function room prior to the event to ensure that both the client's needs are fulfilled, and the resort standards are met. 
  • Assist with overseeing banquet room setup and breakdown to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to event specifications. 
  • Ensures appropriate execution of all banquet functions, overseeing all functions flow smoothly and trouble free. 
  • Ensure banquet events are executed in accordance with resort service standards while maintaining professionalism, organization, and attention to detail throughout each function. 
  • Maintain a visible presence during banquet functions to proactively address operational challenges and ensure smooth event execution. 
  • Support the coordination and execution of multiple events simultaneously while maintaining high service standards in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Respond promptly and professionally to guest concerns and service recovery situations to ensure guest satisfaction. 
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the department (back hallway, meeting rooms and pre-function space.) 
  • Insures the proper use and storage of all equipment. Establish preventative maintenance schedules for same equipment. 
  • Assist in creating and implementing operational procedures and service standards to enhance efficiency and the overall guest experience. 
  • Assists with associate tracking and reporting, ensuring all hotel deadlines are met. 
  • Assist with the creation of schedules and monitoring of Humanity. 
  • Assists with payroll and other procedures/requests required by Finance. 
  • Initiates appropriate disciplinary action for servers who have committed infractions of the Rules of Conduct as stated in the Rod ‘N’ Reel Resort Team Member Handbook. 
  • Attend pertinent hotel and department meetings. 
  • Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards; identify, recommend, develop, and implement new ways to increase organizational efficiency, productivity, quality, safety, and/or cost-savings. 

Qualifications 

  • Must have a minimum of 3–5 years of banquet, event operations, or Food & Beverage leadership experience within a hotel, resort, conference center, or hospitality environment. 
  • Prior experience overseeing high-volume banquet functions, weddings, corporate meetings, conferences, and social events preferred. 
  • Strong understanding of banquet service standards, event timelines, room setups, and banquet operational flow required. 
  • Experience working directly with Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), event resumes, and pre-conference planning processes preferred. 
  • Proven ability to lead banquet teams in a fast-paced, high-volume event environment while maintaining exceptional guest service standards. 
  • Experience managing multiple events simultaneously while adapting to last-minute operational and guest changes. 
  • Strong client and guest relations experience with the ability to professionally communicate with meeting planners, vendors, and resort guests. 
  • Prior leadership experience in banquet operations including scheduling, training, coaching, and performance management of banquet associates. 
  • Knowledge of banquet setup styles, food and beverage service standards, and event execution logistics preferred.
