Position Title: Research Associate Scientist (Contractor)

Division/Functional Area: Research & Development – TMS, Developmental Biological Sciences

Location: Branchburg, NJ (4 Millennium Way, Branchburg, NJ 08876) — 100% Onsite

Contract Length: 6 months



Overview

TMS, Developmental Biological Sciences R&D, is seeking a highly motivated junior scientist to support a development project in the Regenerative Medicine area. This contractor position offers an excellent opportunity to gain valuable industry experience in a dynamic, fast-paced research environment.

The successful candidate will perform laboratory experiments to evaluate and characterize biologic and synthetic implantable materials, working closely with senior scientists and cross-functional team members.


Key Responsibilities

  • Independently conduct laboratory experiments to generate reliable, consistent data in a timely manner
  • Document, discuss, and refine experimental study designs in collaboration with team members and the project lead
  • Summarize and interpret experimental results, exercising sound scientific judgment with appropriate guidance
  • Assist the project lead in maintaining accurate and organized project documentation

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field
  • 1+ years of hands-on laboratory experience (academic or industry; fresh graduates with strong academic lab experience are welcome)
  • Familiarity with one or more material characterization techniques/instruments, such as:
  • DSC (Differential Scanning Calorimetry)
  • SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy)
  • Instron mechanical testing
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new concepts, tools, and techniques
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail and rigorous record-keeping habits
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-based scientific setting

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with biochemical analytical testing (e.g., colorimetric assays) and/or digital image analysis
  • Prior exposure to ECM biology, tissue engineering, regeneration, or biomaterials
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Basic understanding of statistical analysis
