Position Overview
We're hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to help build the future of Emergency Call Triage-an AI-powered platform that helps emergency communication centers identify critical incidents faster and respond more effectively. In this role, you'll work at the intersection of AI, distributed systems, and public safety, helping deliver technology that can have a direct impact on saving lives.
This is a hybrid role, with an expectation of four days per week in our Manhattan office.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and deploy backend services powering AI-driven emergency response workflows.
  • Own features end-to-end from technical design through production deployment.
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and platform teams across the U.S. and Israel.
  • Build systems that leverage LLMs, voice AI, and modern AI infrastructure.
  • Create technical design documents and drive architectural discussions.
  • Participate in customer-facing conversations to understand real-world challenges and improve product outcomes.
What Make You a Great Fit
  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Strong backend and distributed systems expertise.
  • Demonstrated experience owning projects from concept through production.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with modern AI systems, LLM applications, or AI-enabled products.

The Pay: Axon is a total compensation company, meaning compensation is made up of base pay, bonus, and stock awards. The starting base pay for this role is between USD 141,000 in the lowest geographic market and USD 216,600 in the highest geographic market. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: level, function, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, geographic market, and often a combination of all these factors.
