Job Summary:
This position performs Preventative Maintenance (PM) and troubleshooting on factory automation systems such as conveyors, AMR charging stations, automated transfer systems, and robotic equipment. The role focuses on minimizing downtime, supporting stable automation operations, and providing hands-on technical guidance to new technicians.
The Technician II will diagnose mechanical, electrical, and control-related issues in automation equipment, support installation and startup activities, and collaborate with engineers to improve system reliability.
Responsibilities:
Equipment Support
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control issues on automation equipment (conveyors, AMRs, robotic stations, lifters, alignment units, sensors, PLC-controlled systems).
  • Perform Preventative Maintenance (PM) on FA equipment to prevent breakdowns and improve uptime.
  • Monitor equipment data through MES/SCADA systems to analyze trends and identify root causes.
  • Support installation, relocation, and commissioning of automation equipment.

Technical Work & Documentation
  • Repair, adjust, and maintain automation systems to ensure stable operation.
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, PLC I/O diagrams, and equipment manuals.
  • Record maintenance activities and update equipment history logs.
  • Follow standardized processes, SOPs, and 5S/3R requirements to ensure consistency across shifts.

Training & Collaboration
  • Provide hands-on training to new employees on automation equipment functions, troubleshooting, and safety.
  • Collaborate with engineers, shift leaders, and vendors to enhance system performance and improve reliability.
  • Lead equipment-related meetings and support vendor visits, audits, or facility tours.

Safety & General Duties
  • Ensure all maintenance tasks follow LGES safety standards and lockout/tagout (LOTO) guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, following 5S3R principles.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum 7 years of maintenance or automation experience in a factory/plant environment.
  • High School Diploma or GED required (associate degree preferred).
  • Experience with automation systems such as conveyors, robotic cells, AMRs (preferred).
  • Experience reading electrical/mechanical drawings and troubleshooting industrial equipment.
  • PLC knowledge (Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi, or similar) preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work in PPE for up to 12 hours (safety glasses, steel-toe shoes).
  • Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs. and frequently bend, twist, and reach overhead.

Skills:
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in automation equipment.
  • Understanding of industrial sensors, actuators, motors, and I/O devices.
  • Basic understanding of PLC logic flow (preferred).
  • Knowledge of robotics, automated guided vehicles, or AMR systems (preferred).
  • Ability to interpret MES/SCADA data for maintenance analysis.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
