Job Summary
The Automation Specialist is responsible for working closely with customers and collaborating with internal teams to provide the customer expert product support and provide optimal products and solutions.
Essential Functions
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive product knowledge, including features, benefits, and applications across various platforms.
  • Provide pre-sales support to customers including: review of customer project specifications and documents, preparing and presenting bills of materials, proof of concepts, performance tests, and properly sizing and recommending components to solve application requirements.
  • Provide post-sales support to customers including: assisting with customer technical product issues, implementation troubleshooting, product training, and escalating issues to appropriate vendor partners if necessary.
  • Perform gap analysis to identify target customers for specific products and pursue those opportunities.
  • Utilize the customer relationship manager (CRM) tool to log and manage customer opportunities, tasks, customer interactions, and support responses from customers.
  • Collaborate with Account Managers, Business Consultants, and Solution Consultants in opportunity pursuits by defining the best products for the identified solution architecture.
  • Proactively facilitate and provide product-based training to internal teams including Sales and Customer Experience
  • Proactively provide customers relevant information on new products and technology related to their industry and application needs.
  • Analyze competitive product lines and communicate competitive product differentiators for customers.
  • Deliver Werner billable services including: installed base evaluations, network assessments, drive startups, and vulnerability discovery surveys, field services, and technical training.
  • Participate in relevant trade shows and events.

Required Qualifications
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to travel regularly through assigned territory. Some overnight travel is required.
  • Associate's degree in Automation, Engineering, Computer Science or other related field; AND
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience is required.
  • 5 years' of related experience required in lieu of a degree.
  • Previous experience working directly with customers is required.
  • Ability to stay updated with industry trends and technological advancements.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Servo Motion Control experience (Kinetix)
  • Prior experience delivering presentations and demonstrations.
  • Previous experience working with a customer relations management (CRM) software preferred.
  • Previous experience managing and self-directing workload
  • Prior experience working as field service technician is a plus
