Job Description Automation Technician Location: Strugis, MI Shift: 2nd shift | 4pm-12am Position Overview Our client, a leader in the plastic injection molding industry, is seeking a high-level Automation Technician with a specialization in robotics. This role is critical for the design, integration, and optimization of complex robotic systems used in "Total Solutions Molding". The ideal candidate is a technical expert capable of taking a robotic cell from concept and component specification to full programming and mechanical implementation.

Key Responsibilities Robotic Programming: Perform advanced programming and troubleshooting for a diverse fleet of robots, including Engel, Yushin, Ranger, Fanuc, and ABB. Cell Design: Design and build new automation cells, specifically focusing on the integration of robotic arms with molding machinery. End-of-Arm Tooling: Design and fabricate custom EOATs (End of Arm Tooling) tailored for specific production parts.

System Integration: Program and troubleshoot Servo drive controls, motors, and Avalon Vision systems used for robotic guidance and part inspection. Control Logic: Manage PLC controls (Rockwell, Siemens, etc.) and sensor integration (relay logic, TTL) to ensure seamless communication between robots and peripheral equipment. Lifecycle Management: Purchase and maintain spare parts for robotic units and perform specialized preventative maintenance to minimize downtime

Required Qualifications Demonstrated expertise in programming multi-axis robots (Engel, Fanuc, or ABB preferred). Strong mechanical assembly and fabrication skills for building robotic cells and tooling. Proficiency in pneumatic systems, valves, and controls as they relate to robotic movement.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision to diagnose complex robotic failures. Preferred Qualifications Associate's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent professional experience. Direct experience with robotics within a plastics/injection molding environment.
