Overview
SecurePro is seeking a hands-on Senior AWS Cloud Engineer / Cloud Implementation Lead to support a Department of Defense cloud governance, modernization, and gamification initiative. This role will lead the technical implementation of an AWS-first capability that helps assess, score, visualize, and improve cloud maturity, security posture, operational readiness, and modernization progress across DoD systems.
The initial implementation will focus on AWS environments, but the long-term roadmap includes multi-cloud extensibility, including the ability to ingest and normalize data from Azure, Google Cloud, hybrid environments, and other enterprise data sources.
The ideal candidate is a strong AWS engineer who can lead implementation, coordinate with government stakeholders, build dashboards and data ingestion workflows, support containerization, and help scale an MVP into a repeatable cloud governance capability.
This is a hands-on delivery role, not just an advisory or architecture position. The candidate should be comfortable building, documenting, troubleshooting, and coordinating across technical, cybersecurity, and program teams.
Duties
  • Lead day-to-day technical implementation of an AWS-based cloud governance and gamification MVP.
  • Design and implement cloud data ingestion, scoring, dashboarding, and reporting workflows.
  • Coordinate with DoD stakeholders, system owners, cybersecurity teams, and program leadership.
  • Support MVP implementation for initial DoD systems and help scale the solution to additional systems over time.
  • Develop dashboards and reporting views for technical users, program stakeholders, and leadership.
  • Support scoring models for cloud maturity, security posture, cost optimization, operational excellence, resilience, RMF/ATO readiness, and modernization progress.
  • Work with Cyber/RMF/ATO support personnel to ensure the solution aligns with security, auditability, authorization, and compliance needs.
  • Support AWS architecture, implementation, and integration using services such as S3, Lambda, API Gateway, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, AWS Config, Security Hub, IAM, KMS, ECS/Fargate, Athena/Glue, QuickSight, or similar services.
  • Help containerize and package the capability so it can be deployed and expanded across multiple systems.
  • Design the solution with future multi-cloud extensibility in mind, including future ingestion from Azure, Google Cloud, hybrid platforms, and non-cloud data sources.
  • Support API-based integrations, normalized data models, and reusable ingestion patterns.
  • Develop technical documentation, onboarding guides, deployment notes, and implementation playbooks.
  • Manage implementation backlog, milestones, risks, dependencies, and technical blockers.
  • Participate in stakeholder meetings, technical reviews, demos, and user acceptance testing.
  • Provide clear written and verbal updates to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in AWS cloud engineering, cloud implementation, DevOps, platform engineering, or application modernization.
  • Hands-on experience designing, deploying, or supporting AWS-based solutions.
  • Experience supporting federal, DoD, or other government customers.
  • Strong understanding of cloud governance, security, logging, monitoring, tagging, automation, and operational best practices.
  • Experience with dashboards, metrics, reporting, data pipelines, APIs, or scoring models.
  • Familiarity with Agile delivery, backlog management, sprint planning, and stakeholder coordination.
  • Ability to lead implementation activities independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to translate technical progress, risks, and dependencies into leadership-level updates.
  • U.S. Citizenship required due to federal contract requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain/maintain a clearance.
  • AWS certification such as AWS Solutions Architect Associate, AWS SysOps Administrator, AWS Developer, AWS Security Specialty, or AWS DevOps Engineer.
  • Experience with AWS GovCloud.
  • Familiarity with Azure or Google Cloud, especially cloud monitoring, security, cost, tagging, inventory, or compliance data sources.
  • Experience designing multi-cloud or cloud-agnostic data ingestion patterns.
  • Experience with RMF, ATO, NIST 800-53, NIST 800-171, FedRAMP, CMMC, or DoD cybersecurity requirements.
  • Experience with Docker, ECS, EKS, Kubernetes, or AWS Fargate.
  • Experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, AWS CDK, or other infrastructure-as-code tools.
  • Experience with dashboarding or reporting tools such as Amazon QuickSight, Grafana, Power BI, or similar.
  • Experience with Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, PowerShell, Bash, or other scripting languages.
  • Experience with API integrations, serverless workflows, or cloud-native application development.
  • Familiarity with Cloud Center of Excellence, FinOps, DevSecOps, application modernization, or portfolio governance initiatives.
Technical Skills Desired
  • AWS GovCloud / AWS Commercial
  • S3, Lambda, API Gateway
  • CloudWatch, CloudTrail, AWS Config, Security Hub
  • IAM, KMS, VPC, PrivateLink
  • ECS, EKS, Fargate, Docker
  • Athena, Glue, QuickSight, Grafana, or Power BI
  • DynamoDB, RDS, or other cloud data stores
  • Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK
  • GitHub, GitLab, or CI/CD pipelines
  • Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, PowerShell, or Bash
  • REST APIs and cloud data integrations
  • Azure Monitor, Azure Policy, Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Google Cloud Logging, Google Cloud Monitoring, or Security Command Center experience is a plus
Compensation
Compensation is based on experience, clearance status, AWS certifications, GovCloud experience, multi-cloud familiarity, and federal/DoD cloud implementation background. Highly qualified candidates with active clearance and strong AWS GovCloud/RMF experience may be considered above the posted range.
Work Environment
This role may be remote or hybrid depending on customer needs. The candidate must be available for meetings during Eastern Time business hours. Occasional travel may be required.
