Job description

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Audio-Visual Design Engineer to join our dynamic Audio-Visual team. In this role, you will play a key part in planning, designing, and implementing innovative audio-visual solutions across a variety of projects. You will collaborate closely with multiple departments to ensure seamless integration and high-quality outcomes.

Location: Ashburn, VA
Travel: Up to 50% annually

The position is primarily in-office, with an expectation of being in the office a minimum of 4 days per week, except when on-site project work is required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare AV design packages, perform equipment inventory, install and verify systems
  • Create floor plan diagrams, room and rack elevations, and audio, video, and control line diagrams
  • Prepare bill of materials that includes hardware, materials, wall plates, and cabling, and provide estimates for services for internal review
  • Provide specifications and detailed schematics for AV system hardware and network designs
  • Conduct research, stay up to date, and collaborate with manufacturers, vendors, and colleagues in the design, planning, and implementation of AV systems
  • Provide program reports to analyze system capabilities to define gaps and meet users’ requirements
  • Specialize in audio digital signal processors, video over IP, networks, video conferencing, web conferencing, matrix switchers, and complex systems
  • Maintain technical expertise in all areas of AV systems, including network, hardware, software, codecs, audio video switchers, AV control systems, AV devices, including monitors, microphones, cameras, mixers, amplifiers, VTC gateways, VTC bridges, video streamers, etc.
  • Review and validate the Bill of Materials for compliance with standards and ensure completeness of required components
  • Communicate directly with customers, management, sales, and project managers
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all sensitive and proprietary information
  • Consistently adhere to company policies, procedures, and standards of conduct
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration with department heads, managers, colleagues, and customers
  • Communicate information clearly and concisely, presenting ideas and reporting facts in a professional manner
  • Manage personal workflow efficiently, proactively resolving issues and seeking guidance from supervisors when necessary
  • Demonstrate reliability by meeting established attendance and punctuality standards
  • Comply with all safety and security protocols to ensure a safe working environment
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned to support team and organizational goals

Qualifications / Skills / Knowledge

  • Minimum 3 years of AV Engineer experience
  • Proficiency with standard Microsoft tools such as Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • AutoCAD and/or Visio drawing capabilities
  • Audio DSP programming and gain structure (Biamp, Extron DMP, QSC Core)
  • Crestron and Extron Nomenclature
  • Network Topology, IP addressing, Multicast Systems
  • Certifications: CTS, Crestron DMC-E, Extron AV Associate, Biamp Tesira Forte
  • In depth experience in the analysis, design, implementation and support of medium to large scale AV projects
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical individuals
