I. JOB OVERVIEW

Job Description Summary:

The George Washington University Division of University Advancement seeks an Associate Director, Leadership Annual Giving, Columbian College of Arts and Sciences.

University Advancement is responsible for leading the university’s alumni and fundraising efforts and seeks to promote a culture of philanthropy throughout the university community, including alumni, students, parents, faculty, staff, corporations and foundations, patients, and friends. Reporting to the Executive Director, Constituent Engagement and Annual Giving, the Associate Director is responsible for qualifying, cultivating and personally soliciting gifts at the Leadership Annual Giving level of $1,000 up to $49,999. This role partners with the CCAS Advancement team, faculty, research centers and institutes and other campus partners, primarily central and school-based Advancement staff as appropriate, to meet fundraising goals, steward donors and build affinity supporting the philanthropic priorities of the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences.

The Associate Director, Leadership Annual Giving is also responsible for managing the College’s strategy for crowdfunding, including but not limited to Giving Day, the University’s annual day of giving campaign.

This role will engage alumni, parents, and friends of CCAS around donor interests and fundraising priorities to build a pipeline of annual donors, focused on retention, multi-year giving and major gift qualification. Responsibilities also include ensuring the integrity and quality of alumni information in the database, including visit contact reports, donor strategies, and biographical data.

Job Duties:

• Acquire, cultivate, and retain annual donors in support of the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences for gifts of $1,000 to $49,999.
• Qualifies, partners and/or transfers major gift prospects when appropriate to major gift officers by assessing prospects’ capacity and inclination to give.
• Responsible for effective prospect tracking, record keeping, reporting and administration aligned with the metrics and reporting from central University Advancement and CCAS .
• Maintains a working knowledge of the major areas for annual support across CCAS , including schools, academic departments and centers, scholarships and fellowships, and student life.
• Collaborates with central annual giving team to increase donor engagement and maximize gift potential; serves as CCAS liaison to central team for GW’s annual Day of Giving and other crowdfunding initiatives in the College.
• Provides necessary documentation and follow-up for donors and internal partners as needed.
• Responsible for data management to ensure accurate prospect tracking of stage progression, contact reports, proposals, philanthropic capacity/inclination, and biographical data.

Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning tasks logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 2 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
