Job description

POSITION AVAILABLE: Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Teaching in Anatomical Science

SALARY: The salary range for this position is $190,800 – $352,100. Off‑scale salaries and other componentsofpay i.e. a salary that is higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated rank and step may be offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions, qualifications, and experience.

START DATE: Summer 2027

We are seeking an outsider standing anatomo­maticist for the position of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Teaching in Anatomical Science to join our faculty at the University of California Davis Department of Anatomy, Physiology, and Cell Biology. Professor of Teaching in Anatomy are academic leaders who develop curriculum, deliver instruction, facilitate student learning, and make scholarly contributions to the field of anatomical science. This position will teach a range of courses, including advanced anatomy and histology for undergraduate and graduate programs, and lead research in anatomical science to maintain an active research program in anatomical science and/or pedagogy.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Candidates must possess a DVM (or equivalent veterinary degree), M.D., or Ph.D. with advanced knowledge and demonstrated aptitude/experience in gross anatomy instruction.
  • A documented scholarly record or potential to develop innovative scholarly activities in anatomy and/or pedagogy is required.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching is required for appointment at the Associate or Professor ranks.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse community.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A veterinary medical degree (DVM or equivalent).
  • Documented success in following areas: teaching large classes of 150 or more students, use of evidence‑based teaching practices, development/use of modern anatomical instructional technologies, the ability to identify and develop effective teaching strategies, and demonstrated work advancing the pedagogy of anatomy.
