Position Summary 
Contributes to the success of Buckman’s digital strategy by collaborating with the digital team, stakeholders and external partners on initiatives and successfully completing work on regional/global projects.
 
Key Outcomes/Responsibilities
Successfully completes work to support the completion of complex global digital projects that positively impact the customer experience and increase the adoption of digital solutions.   
  • Serves as a technical leader (software and/or hardware) on at least one digital project ensuring technical problems and challenges are resolved. 
  • Completes aligned work throughout the entire life cycle of product development, including idea generation, rapid prototyping to develop MVP candidates, product development, and commercial deployment. 
  • Completes analyses and creates key documentation (e.g. project and resource plan) to support and advance the project during the phase gate process.
  • Works with external partners and reviews SOW technical documentation to ensure clarity and completeness. 
  • Delivers outcomes in one of these focus areas: sensor development, automation and controls, back end development , front end development, IoT development, data engineering, data analytics, mobile development, or data science.   
 
Supports and helps drive an innovative culture 
  • Suggests new and useful ideas or solutions.
  • Takes the initiative to learn innovative methods, tools, and technology and show others how they can be applied to work tasks.    
 
Aligns work with strategies   
  • Understands, buys-in and ensures alignment with Buckman 4.0 and the digital strategy.   
 
 
Collaborates effectively with the global digital team and with other departments, stakeholders and leaders
 
  • Works effectively with R&D partners, digital associates, Strategic Marketing and sales to deliver effective digital solutions. 
  • Ensures alignment and buy-in of digital direction with stakeholders and internal partners.
  • Understands the global digital ecosystem and learns to work productively across this ecosystem.  
 
For Digital Insights Lab Associates:  Performs key tasks in monitoring, troubleshooting and resolving sales associate problems/issues.
 
  • Resolves sales associate’s questions or problems with the Ackumen platform (e.g., technical process questions, problem resolution with an account, how to complete a certain task). 
  • Monitors and triages Ackumen alarms for customer chemical usage and takes appropriate action as needed (resolution of problem, notification of sales associate to respond to issue). 
  • Responds and escalates service requests from sales associates to the appropriate tier of support. 
 
Basic Qualifications
  • B.S. or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related engineering / technical field plus 3 years experience
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the core concepts in one or more focus areas (sensor development, automation and controls, back end, front end, native application dev, data science, etc.) with some limited experience applying them to real world situations.  Plus, demonstrates in-depth knowledge in at least one focus area. 
  • M.S. (or equivalent experience) in in Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related engineering / technical field plus one year experience. 
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the core concepts in one or more focus areas (sensor development, automation and controls, back end, front end, native application dev, data science, etc.) with some limited experience applying them to real world situations.  Plus, demonstrates in-depth knowledge in at least one focus area. 
Knowledge:    
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the core concepts in one or more focus areas (sensor development, automation and controls, back end, front end, native application dev, data science, etc.) with some limited experience applying them to real world situations.   
  • For Software roles: Demonstrates strong knowledge of the full software development processes and lifecycle and in-depth knowledge in at least one focus area: 
    • Mobile development – native mobile development or cross-platform development with a framework such as React Native 
    • Front End Development – SPA frameworks such as Angular or React, UI/UX design 
    • IoT Development - embedded programming, wireless networking, security, Azure IoT Hub or AWS IoT environment integration, integrated testing 
    • Back End Development – Microservices, Serverless, Lambda Architectures 
    • Data Engineering – Relational and NoSQL data, Data visualization tools such as Power BI, streaming data, etc. 
    • Data Analytics - techniques and tools including Azure Machine Learning, SQL, Hadoop/Hive,  
  • For IoT roles: demonstrates in-depth knowledge in at least one focus area: 
    • Sensor design, including mechanical design, PCB design and development and prototyping 
    • Controllers, gateways, local wireless protocols and hardware 
    • Systems design and development 
    • Control logic development 
    • Data analytics tools, techniques and problem frame up 
    • Embedded programming 
    • Installation and commissioning 
    • IoT stack elements including Azure or AWS environments

    • Advanced MS Office skills, ability to conduct data analysis and draw data-driven conclusions
