Job Description

We are looking for an Android Engineering Lead to define and drive the technical vision for Android development within their product area. This position will be Full-Time and Hybrid.

Due to our end client, candidates must be able to work on CAI's W2 without a need for sponsorship now or in the future.

What You’ll Do

  • Define and drive the technical vision for Android and React Native development across the product area

  • Architect robust, scalable, and performant native Android and cross-platform mobile solutions

  • Establish and enforce best practices for performance, scalability, security, and code quality

  • Lead technical decision-making and evaluate new technologies for the Android and React Native platforms

  • Create technical design specifications and translate high-level architecture into working software

  • Lead feature development and enhancements for Android applications, including React Native cross-platform implementations

  • Develop using Kotlin and Java with the Android SDK, including Jetpack libraries

  • Utilize React Native, JavaScript/TypeScript, and modern cross-platform mobile development workflows

  • Implement modern app architectures (MVVM, MVP, Clean Architecture) and state management patterns (Redux, Context API)

  • Optimize performance, memory management, multithreading, and concurrency across native and cross-platform environments

  • Build custom UI components with strong attention to UI/UX, accessibility, and responsive design

  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Bitrise, GitLab, GitHub Actions)

  • Manage Play Store submission and deployment processes

  • Ensure strong testing practices across unit, UI, and automated test suites (JUnit, Espresso, Jest, Detox, MockK)

  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks across native and React Native layers

  • Maintain high standards for code quality, reliability, and maintainability

  • Mentor and guide Android and React Native developers through code reviews, pairing, and technical coaching

  • Foster continuous improvement in engineering practices, tooling, and workflows

  • Collaborate closely with product, design, and delivery teams to translate requirements into technical solutions

  • Participate actively in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, standups, retrospectives, backlog refinement) to ensure overall engineering progress aligns with roadmaps and timelines

  • Maintain awareness of engineering health across all technology layers of the product — not just Android

  • Identify cross-layer risks, dependencies, and blockers; escalate proactively

  • Facilitate collaboration to resolve cross-cutting concerns

  • Stay current with Android, Kotlin, React Native, and mobile ecosystem trends

  • Evaluate emerging frameworks and methodologies (Kotlin Multiplatform, Jetpack Compose, new React Native architecture — TurboModules, Fabric)

  • Drive adoption of modern Android and cross-platform technologies and development patterns

What You'll Need

Required:

  • 7+ years of hands-on mobile development with deep Android expertise

  • 2+ years in a lead or technical leadership role

  • Expertise in Android (Kotlin/Java) and the Android SDK, including Jetpack libraries

  • Proficiency in React Native, JavaScript/TypeScript, and modern cross-platform development workflows

  • Strong understanding of modern mobile architectures (MVVM, MVP, Clean Architecture) and state management patterns (Redux, Context API)

  • Expertise in performance optimization, memory management, concurrency, and multithreading across native and cross-platform environments

  • Proficiency with Git and version control workflows (GitFlow, trunk-based)

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Bitrise, GitLab, GitHub Actions)

  • Experience with testing frameworks (JUnit, Espresso, Jest, Detox, MockK)

  • Strong end-to-end accountability and a track record of taking delivery fully to completion

  • Solid experience working with offshore teams and driving work through closure across distributed teams

Preferred:

  • Experience with modern React Native architecture (TurboModules, Fabric)

  • Experience with Apollo GraphQL

  • Experience with Dagger for dependency injection

  • Experience designing or contributing to mobile platform foundations (design systems, shared modules, reusable libraries)

The pay range for this position is listed above. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including location, experience, and education. Benefit packages include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as 401k retirement account access.
