Job description

The UMB Registered Fund team, which manages the daily accounting, tax, audit, administration, and operational tasks for mutual fund and collective trust clients.

As the Tax-Retirement Analyst III, you will assist in training and act as mentor for associates in Tax and Retirement Analyst I and II positions. You will review the work of Tax and Retirement Analyst I associates for accuracy and completeness while providing constructive feedback and represent the Tax Department within the transfer agency on conversions, fund startups and regulatory projects.

How you will spend your time:

  • Monitor and resolve exception items to ensure resolution within acceptable time frames
  • Document/review workflow and procedures
  • Manage and resolve year-end tax reporting deadlines, including the preparation of forms 1042/945 for fund clients, and shareholder 1099 and 1042 S preparation/filings
  • Process adjustments to cost basis reporting related to the 1099 and corrections process
  • Manage the annual fund reclassification processes
  • Lead the team in streamlining reporting and withholding processes as well as remediation tasks
  • Manage outside vendor relationships
  • Review invoices received from outside vendors and reconcile back to tax form production
  • Lead projects which include designing and testing of new systems and programs, the converting or de-converting of clients
  • Ability to partner with other departments
  • Ability to manage and maintain partnerships with outside vendors as it relates to tax form processing
  • Act as back up to department manager

  • Financial services industry experience in either an Operations or Tax related capacity.
  • Knowledge of mutual funds and alternative investments products as related to 1099 reporting
  • Knowledge of IRA transaction processing and Federal and State withholding rules, or 1099 reporting requirements including cost basis calculations

Compensation Ranges:

US Employees in California, Washington DC, New Jersey, and New York:

$62,310 - $90,760

US Employees in Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, Washington, and Wisconsin:

$56,890 - $83,080

US Employees in all other states not listed above:

$51,480 - $75,410
