Accounting Specialist
Location: Tualatin, OR (Onsite)
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-3:30 PM
Pay: $25-$30/hour
Employment Type: Contract, Indefinite Duration
Our client, a well-established organization in the construction and infrastructure industry, is seeking an Accounting Specialist to join their team in Tualatin. This position is ideal for an experienced accounts payable professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys high-volume processing, and values collaboration across departments.
About the Role
Reporting to the Accounts Payable Manager, the Accounting Specialist will play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices and payments. This position supports a high-volume operation and requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Key Responsibilities
• Process and enter 300+ invoices per week accurately and efficiently
• Ensure accounts payable transactions are completed in a timely manner
• Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and vendor issues
• Code invoices to appropriate general ledger accounts
• Prepare and process weekly payments, including checks, ACH transactions, wire transfers, and credit card payments
• Maintain and update vendor records
• Review and audit employee expense reports
• Support accounting for corporate credit card purchases
• Manage use tax accounting and related filings
• Identify opportunities for process improvements within accounting operations
• Collaborate with operations teams and internal stakeholders
• Assist with special projects and additional accounting functions as assigned
Qualifications
• Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
• 3+ years of accounts payable experience with an Associate degree, or 5+ years of related AP experience
• Experience processing high-volume invoices (300+ per week preferred)
• Comfortable working with both electronic and paper-based invoice workflows • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
• Construction industry experience is a plus
• Experience with Viewpoint Spectrum, UKG, or Simplex is highly desirable
