Job description

First Merchants Bank is seeking an Accounting Associate I to join our team! This position will perform accounting functions, research and process various transactions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Prepare reconciliations for loan and deposit system accounts, Federal Reserve Bank, correspondent accounts, and various other accounts as assigned. Identify and research out of balance transactions and resolve.
  • Prepare reconciliation dashboard reporting to Operations and other departments.
  • Assist the Accounting team as needed with daily, weekly or monthly duties. 
  • Provide support to management on assigned projects.
  • Verify daily Bank Control Record (BCR) reports to supporting documents to make sure all system changes were authorized and correctly changed in the system.
  • Submit 945 taxes semi-weekly.

To be successful in this position, we require the following: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED). 
  • A minimum of three (3) years of accounting, bookkeeping or related experience.

The following would be a plus: 

  • Prior banking experience.
  • Associate's degree in accounting, finance or related field.
