FINANCE: STAFF ACCOUNTANT

 

Employment Type: Full-Time, (Exempt)

Work Schedule: Designated daytime work hours with occasional extended hours based on business needs

Department: Finance

Location: Fridley, MN - Hybrid

Reports To: Finance Manager


Position Summary - The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close processes, reconciling accounts, assisting with financial reporting, and providing support to the Tax Manager with tax compliance and reporting activities for a growing pest control services organization. This role works closely with Operations, Human Resources, Payroll, and Management to ensure the company's financial transactions are accurately recorded, reported, and compliant with applicable accounting and tax regulations.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

General Accounting

·       Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger.

·       Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation.

·       Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.

·       Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts.

·       Analyze financial data and investigate variances.

Financial Reporting

·       Prepare recurring financial reports and account analyses.

·       Assist in the preparation of monthly management reports.

·       Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.

·       Monitor expenses and identify trends impacting profitability.

·       Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

Payroll & Expense Support

·       Support accounting for pest control chemicals, equipment, fleet assets, and inventory.

·       Reconcile inventory balances and assist with physical inventory counts.

·       Maintain fixed asset records and calculate depreciation.

·       Assist with fleet-related accounting and expense tracking.

Inventory & Fixed Asset Accounting

·       Support accounting for pest control chemicals, equipment, fleet assets, and inventory.

Compliance & Audit Support

·       Assist with annual audits and tax preparation activities.

Qualifications & Skills

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

·       Associate or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

·       2-5 years of accounting experience.

·       Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
