Job description

Every transaction tells a story and we need someone who loves making sure it all adds up. Shoe Carnival is looking for a motivated Sales Reconciliation Associate to join our accounting team and help keep the financial pulse of our retail operations running smoothly. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their accounting or finance career who is eager to build hands-on experience in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

The Sales Reconciliation Associate supports the Accounting Department and the overall organization by performing daily sales deposit reconciliations, timely resolution of deposit and settlement related issues, accounts receivable processing and collections and managing credit card and PayPal disputes.

  • Reconciles daily sales deposit transactions utilizing Cadency reconciliation software.
  • Investigates and resolves daily sales deposit and settlement related issues.
  • Processes and logs inventory/sales adjustments and debit/credit card adjustments.
  • Reviews, reconciles, and logs accounts receivable sales.
  • Prepares and emails accounts receivable invoices and ensures timely collection.
  • Posts journal entries in Great Plains accounting system.
  • Responds to credit card and PayPal chargeback disputes.
  • Interacts with banks and other departments, such as Store Operations, Customer Service, and Loss Prevention.
  • Participates in preparation of necessary schedules and provides assistance to third party auditors, as applicable.
  • Completes ad hoc Accounting Department projects as requested by management.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Business or accounting associates degree a plus.
  • Accounting, treasury, retail or banking experience preferred.
  • Computer literacy required. Experience working in business systems and applications, such as accounting or reconciliation software preferred.
  • Efficient and detail-oriented with a positive attitude.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with an ability to multi-task.
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team with management and associates at all levels.
  • Willingness to take initiative and continually look for ways to improve processes.
